A good Reuben is one of the best things. Onion rings and/or french fries add to the experience. My personal choice of beverage is some variation on root beer.

Homemade pastrami and sauerkraut make it unforgettable.

If you're a queer kid who feels out of place and unseen in their community and skin, it could be a life-changing book. The same with Octavia Butler or Kage Baker.

I found my way to science fiction through "Star Trek" and "2001: A Space Odyssey" in the 1960s and almost lost my interest when I started reading the "golden age" titles. LeGuin, Niven, and Haldeman pulled me through in my teens.

Tell Congress to side with DC — Free DC

DC is a city with a minority majority demographic. The House and Senate are acting on the direction of the racists in the White House to disenfranchise Black Americans and other non-White Americans.

Call or write your Members of Congress and tell them not to support.

Oh, and while we're on the vile racism of the Trump regime and the support it has from Americans, please remember that there is pending legislation in the House and Senate that would strip further the agency of the Washington DC government and disenfranchise the US citizens who live in DC.

Then whip count and get the votes together to support articles of impeachment for Trump and Vance, and to be open to conviction and removal in the Senate.

Act for history and the good of Americans, not for the election cycle.

Get your staff to find Republican members of the House who are disgusted with the regime and the racism. Offer them the opportunity to caucus with the Democrats.

Anyone surprised by the use of digital manipulation to create incendiary racist content to rile up racists is either in denial or is not paying attention.

When my husband and I saw a postcard with the photoshopped image of President Obama's face added to a male African traditional dancer on his parent's refrigerator we called out his parents, and as a result of their response, broke contact with them. This was in 2017.

At the risk of sounding like the oldest member of Gen X ever, I really want that time and the role of editors back. It would solve so many problems.

Once upon a time we lived in a world where there was an entire profession built around clarifying and organizing data and information to ensure its accuracy and usability.

They were called editors.

We paid money for the books, magazines, journals, newspapers and other periodicals they edited.

Patiently explaining to tech bros about how authorizing legislation establishes what services a government agency must provide and having them stare back and say "but how do you innovate?" was a repeatedly soul-killing moment for this former federal CIO who studied political science and philosophy.
