A good Reuben is one of the best things. Onion rings and/or french fries add to the experience. My personal choice of beverage is some variation on root beer.

Homemade pastrami and sauerkraut make it unforgettable.

If you're a queer kid who feels out of place and unseen in their community and skin, it could be a life-changing book. The same with Octavia Butler or Kage Baker.

I found my way to science fiction through "Star Trek" and "2001: A Space Odyssey" in the 1960s and almost lost my interest when I started reading the "golden age" titles. LeGuin, Niven, and Haldeman pulled me through in my teens.

There are so many great -- but different -- places to start.

Fox's response to @jamellebouie.net sarcasm reminds me of the "Blackadder" irony line:

Blackadder: "Baldrick, have you no idea what 'irony' is?"
Baldrick: Baldrick: "Yeah, it's like 'goldy' and 'bronzy' only it's made of iron."

VA Gov. Spanberger (moderate, was in CIA) and NYC Mayor Mamdani (left, is in DSA) both taking steps to block local law enforcement from helping ICE as it violently violates people's rights is a good example of how the relevant divide in the Dem coalition isn't center-left, it's fight-don't fight.

The racists really are out doing themselves. They also deserve being called out without question.

Every American to the left of Susan Collins is somewhat responsible for the murder of Charlie Kirk, but it’s unclear if the President is responsible for the video he posted.

Forgive and forget hasn't worked since the end of the Civil War and Reconstruction.

Hiding racism has been and remains one of American's most divisive and damaging flaws.

JD Vance Slammed After Refusing To Apologize To Alex Pretti's Family For Sharing Tweet Calling Him An 'Assassin'

What an utter disgrace.

Perfection.

Fingers crossed that more participation, more visibility, and more accountability will work as it is intended to make a better New York for all New Yorkers.

I hope Dems begin to see that moderate or progressive, AIPAC is not our friend.

They endorse January 6th insurrectionists. Yet if you so much as suggest the US uphold its own Leahy laws, no matter your record, they will work against you.

This. Employee organization and shareholder demands for changed behavior, including divestment, work.

This approach worked over time leading to the end of the apartheid government in South Africa. It can work here, too.

(Let's hope it doesn't take as long.)

Tell Congress to side with DC β€” Free DC

DC is a city with a minority majority demographic. The House and Senate are acting on the direction of the racists in the White House to disenfranchise Black Americans and other non-White Americans.

Call or write your Members of Congress and tell them not to support.

Oh, and while we're on the vile racism of the Trump regime and the support it has from Americans, please remember that there is pending legislation in the House and Senate that would strip further the agency of the Washington DC government and disenfranchise the US citizens who live in DC.

@schumer.senate.gov, do the same in the Senate.

Then whip count and get the votes together to support articles of impeachment for Trump and Vance, and to be open to conviction and removal in the Senate.

Act for history and the good of Americans, not for the election cycle.

Stop going along and getting along with racists. You're not honoring and respecting the Obamas and all Black Americans until you do.

Get your staff to find Republican members of the House who are disgusted with the regime and the racism. Offer them the opportunity to caucus with the Democrats.

What @sethcotlar.bsky.social said.

This has happened before. This ends when Americans no longer accept racist values, behaviors, and attitudes. No more go along and get along. No more excuses. No exceptions.

Anyone surprised by the use of digital manipulation to create incendiary racist content to rile up racists is either in denial or is not paying attention.

The United States has accepted racism throughout its history. If you go along and get along with racists, you support racism. We have choices.

When my husband and I saw a postcard with the photoshopped image of President Obama's face added to a male African traditional dancer on his parent's refrigerator we called out his parents, and as a result of their response, broke contact with them. This was in 2017.

MAGA is racist to the core.

This. There are no costs for punching down. There are few benefits for protecting the victims of abuse or those vulnerable to abuse (other than the inherent justice of standing with them.)

This needs to change.

He'd been fired for inappropriate conduct in a previous role.

In 2026, that man continues to be continues to be connected professionally and personally to the people at the meeting.

He's helped people who were investigated for malfeasance get jobs at major tech companies.

In 2017 I was at regular meeting of federal CIOs, and one of the Trump Administration's new political appointees was introduced. He immediately made a wildly inappropriate comment about one of my female colleagues that was heard by everyone at the meeting.

At the risk of sounding like the oldest member of Gen X ever, I really want that time and the role of editors back. It would solve so many problems.

Once upon a time we lived in a world where there was an entire profession built around clarifying and organizing data and information to ensure its accuracy and usability.

They were called editors.

We paid money for the books, magazines, journals, newspapers and other periodicals they edited.

Patiently explaining to tech bros about how authorizing legislation establishes what services a government agency must provide and having them stare back and say "but how do you innovate?" was a repeatedly soul-killing moment for this former federal CIO who studied political science and philosophy.
