Worldโ€™s oceans fail key health check as acidity crosses critical threshold for marine life Scientists call for renewed global effort to curb fossil fuels as seven of nine planetary boundaries now transgressed

Planetary Boundaries are being breached, as humanity lives beyond Earth's ability to cope

We're already exceeding Climate Change, Land System Change, Freshwater Use, Novel Entities (chemicals, plastics) & others

To that list we can now add Ocean Acidification

For months now, the vast majority of the UK print and broadcast media have engaged in a round-the-clock campaign of stochastic terrorism against immigrants. The results of that campaign are coming to fruition.

Where are the calls for Rylan to be dismissed from his media roles. Gary Lineker was hounded for his comments, which were nowhere near as divisive and inaccurate as this rubbish. Letโ€™s talk about dual standards!

Starmer could have said:

Vandalism isn't patriotism; daubing red crosses on Chinese takeaways and writing racist graffiti isn't patriotism; perfomatively sitting in front of a flag or tying one to a mosque isn't patriotism;

Patriotism is about making this country safe, happy productive for all.

All those parked cars are making hot cities even hotter.

Gilligan found that, over the 108 years covered by his analysis (1900-2007), the age-adjusted suicide rate increased by an average of 9.7 per million over each Republican four-year term but decreased by an average of 11.1 per million over each Democratic term. The age-adjusted homicide rate increased by an average of 3.6 per million over each Republican term but decreased by an average of 4.2 per million over each Democratic term.

These differences may sound small, but they are not. According to the CDC's latest National Vital Statistics Report, there were 37,793 suicides in the U.S. in 2010 (122 per million population) and 16,065 homicides (52 per million population). Applying Gilligan's figures to those baseline levels (and assuming 1 percent population growth per year) implies a projected total of 213,000 violent deaths over the next four years under a Democratic president, but 236,000 under a Republican-a difference of 23,000 lives

A decade ago, my father found that throughout the entire 20th century and the early 21st, almost every time a Republican became president, rates of murder and suicide rose, and almost every time a Democrat became president, both rates fell.
