I tried, because I really did love the book, but unless you’re promoting the same 10 books and same 10 authors I see over and over on most of these sites these days, no one seems to care. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ And sadly, my online book influence only amounts to around 2-3 people these days.

Death of the Author by Nnedi Okorafor

Death of the Author by Nnedi Okorafor

Death of the Author by @nnedi.bsky.social is a challenging metafictional mind-twist that deserves awards love. Following a Nigerian-American writer whose SFF novel skyrockets her to fame, it's about the tension between signifier and signified. Interpretation and Interpreted. And it's great.

Crazy and incomprehensible at times. Gets an extra star for my love for these characters and nostalgia and great art. One of my favorite comic runs of all time, but this 1st volume is Peter Milligan still trying to figure out what he actually wants to do with this book.

A reread

Just spent my 4th winter with the Torrence family at the beautiful Overlook Hotel, and it was great seeing Dick Hallorann, that clean freak lady in room 217, and good ol’ Lloyd again. Best time ever!

I find it bleak how many people seem to have given up on having any kind of intellectual life. Depression is rampant because we’ve abandoned books & hobbies in favor of joyless amusements. The single most attractive thing a person can do is read often & delight in learning.

Another kickass read from S.A. Cosby. Every book from this man is a guaranteed banger at this point, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what he cooks up next!

Everyone seems to hate this book, but not me. It’s my new favorite Hunger games book! Was very cool seeing this world and the games before Katniss. Snow is an irredeemable evil bastard of a human being from the get go, and it made for compelling reading. πŸ˜‰

I want to send big congrats to author @jasoncavallaro.bsky.social for his book Cracking Spines which is up for the Bram Stoker Awards! So well deserved. I could not be more honored to be one of the authors included in the pages. And whether you love horror or not, this is a book not to miss!
