Dense field edge grass. Heavy; like the hair of a blond Ted Hughes. In the background, between trees, a field of shorter grass and blue wild flowers. A field left to idle this summer. Through the Ted Hughes greenery the dark ribbon of trodden down grass, a desire path to the Roman Road field.

The field in the background sits over the crossroads of a Roman Road, and often when cycling by I spot a pair of metal detectorists scanning for finds.

This is, I believe, their desire path; a trampled route from where they park to the field they explore.

Leaving behind their presence on the land
