Love gaming of both the board and video varieties. Also enjoy movies, anime (and other TV!), reading, soccer, and my silly dog Toro. ๐ฎ Metaphor: ReFantazio and FFXIV (always)

I mean...
It's Chrono Trigger. Just play Chrono Trigger
It definitely has sad parts, but it's a very hopeful game overall! I'd say the main themes of the game are hope and curiosity. I won't say I didn't cry, but I will say that I wasn't always crying due to sadness.

06.11.2025 18:52 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I care much more about whether the ending fits with what the game is trying to say.
Fantasy games should generally have a happy ending even if bittersweet. Horror games have more leeway.
Just make it make sense within the context of the story you're trying to tell. That's really all I ask.
I couldn't recommend it more! Definitely one to check out if you ever have some time in your hands.

This series was a lot of fun! Packs in so many jokes per minute.
Not every sketch lands, but it's more hits than misses. I would've liked a bit more of the actual serious story content, but that's a minor complaint when the show is so consistently funny.
Good news today for my doggo. The toe he had removed was indeed cancerous, but it hadn't spread anywhere else yet. Once he recovers from the operation, he should be good as new. So relieved to hear that from the vet today.
04.11.2025 01:11 โ ๐ 10 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Yeah! I actually added Beastars to my watchlist since I'm enjoying Sanda so much. I'm not terribly familiar with it, tbh.
03.11.2025 06:45 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This week's episode of Sanda blew me away. Probably bumped it up to my current top show this season.
Go watch this show, if you're able.
This is almost all streamers now though. Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max, Paramount+, and Peacock are all ad-supported on their lower tiers.
It sucks, but unless you want to pay more, ads are just the norm now.
I was hoping to catch this on Monday, but with my dog sick, I won't be able to make it to the theatre for a couple weeks. I'll probably wait till it hits streaming in that case.
Glad you liked it though! I have loved his movies ever since I first saw The Lobster.
Anime Question of the day;
What is your favorite music based anime?
It's RockLady for me. I love these foul-mouthed misfits. The themes of putting up appearances, managing societal expectations, and authenticity are fantastic too.

There would have been no shame in still doing so, haha. That said, Paranoia Agent is a great choice, even if I'll admit that I don't think I ever fully "got it".

What is your favorite original anime? (No source material, anime came first)
It's probably Apocalypse Hotel for me. Slice-of-life that's funny, but maintains an air of melancholy appropriate for an apocalypse. It's an all-timer.

Luckily, he's still allowed to do his favorite thing, sunbathing.
01.11.2025 21:00 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Friends, it has been a week.
My pup had to get a toe removed and the aftercare has been exhausting, hence why I haven't been posting much. He's doing okay though and is recuperating.
On top of that, we had our fuse box replaced. It took 14 hours. We felt so bad for the poor electrician.
I just finished my first playthrough last week! Have fun and I hope you enjoy it.
01.11.2025 19:18 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0What are your thoughts on the Live Letter?
31.10.2025 18:39 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Caught up on the FFXIV Live Letter. Seems like there's some good stuff.
- Smartly delaying Savage till after holidays
- I'm sure you glamour fiends are happy (though no more space yet)
- New Variant (I'm mixed in the Criterion charges)
- I hope the strategy board is better than Duty Recorder
Playing a game tonight. It's called "Will my phone battery die before the electrician finishes installing the new fuse box at my house?"
Wouldn't recommend. Mechanics are boring and what's with that title? Someone really needed to punch it up a bit.
They need a new argument. You could literally plug and play "rock music", "novels", "comic books", "Dungeons & Dragons", "bicycles" or a million other moral panics in place of "video games" over the decades.
It's trite, worn out bullshit and nobody's buying it.
I've only played Phantasia. It's a franchise that's always been at the periphery of my gaming life, but that I've never really dug into.
I'd like to get into it more at some point, but it's always a case of too many games, too little time.
That third slot was a tough call and probably the most likely to change as the season evolves. I basically just picked the anime whose next episode I was looking most forward to for now.

3. Gnosia: The premise is basically a game of sci-fi Werewolf, but with a time loop thrown in for good measure.
The character design is wacky in the best way and the plot definitely keeps me guessing.
I've got some quibbles with the mechanics of the game, but they're pretty minor.
2. Sanda: A genetic descendant of Santa uses his Christmas(?) powers to help find a classmate who's gone missing.
Set in a future with plummeting birthrates where children are revered, but heavily controlled. Sanda explores the power of wishes in a world where kids aren't allowed to make them.

1. May I Ask For One Final Thing: An interesting twists on the villainess genre with a cast of characters that okay so well off of each other.
Also, the English VAs are killing it here. You can tell they're having a lot of fun and I'll never tire of listening to Morgan Laurรฉ curse and threaten.
Alright, I've watched at least two episodes of almost every anime from this season that I'm planning to watch (one day we'll get One Punch Man dubs).
Here's my current top three based on initial impressions.
Video game fears:
- Poor checkpointing
- Bad endgame/ending
- Stingy autosave
- Boring gameplay loop
- Multiplayer achievements
- "Several cutscenes will play in sequence" (IYKYK)
