Best take on Dems caving: it allows losing healthcare to sink and hurt (many red) people. Dems then run on that (focus!) issue. As when Trump blew up the agreement and ran on immigration. Vote-wise better than if Reps had extended healthcare. We're just not used to hurting people to win.

Shutting Democrats out of a national security briefing and withholding the legal justification of the Venezuelan boat strikes from half the Senate is indefensible. This White House is eroding our national security.

This perfectly encapsulates what the GOP position is on the shutdown.

This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians to office
2) Elected officials rewrite rules in the donors' favor
3) Donors make huge profit
4) Repeat

We must get big money out of politics.

It is the root of our dysfunction.

They make partisan political speeches attacking the opposition party to troops routinely.

They get pardoned when they commit crimes.

They ignore the laws.

There is zero congressional oversight.

Unfortunately, reality is only apparent *after* elections.
