In my book, I show that an eviction can ruin someone's life *even if it never happens.* A mere eviction FILINGβ€”even one dismissed in courtβ€”can destroy your credit and lock you out of housing for years.

That's why I say people aren't "falling" into homelessness. They're being pushed.

Presumably written bc Duncan is running for Governor as a Democrat, after personally presiding over Georgia’s passage of a 6-week abortion ban in 2019.

Repeating the phrase β€œloving our neighbors” over and over in a policy op ed does not undo this legacy.

My Democratic colleagues and I just left the state of Texas to break quorum and stop Trump’s redistricting power grab.

Trump is trying to rig the midterm elections right before our eyes. But first he’ll have to come through us.

It’s time to fight back.

This happened because my good friend Senator @forrestdunbarak.bsky.social FLEW BACK FROM POLAND to cast THE veto-overriding 45th vote, which is the most metal political move I have seen in a long while

Conservative DEI is orders of magnitude worse than anything any of them have ever accused liberals of doing.

Paul Ingrassiaβ€”a 30-year-old former right-wing blogger and newly minted lawyer who was admitted to the bar in 2024β€”is Trump’s pick to lead the Office of Special Counsel.

Ingrassia has called Jack Smith a β€œdisgusting man,” accused him of β€œelection interference,” and said he should be jailed.

One thing I did this week in my newfound unemployment is I dropped my kid off at an art class and then walked to the library, picked out a novel and plunked down in a comfy chair and started to read it. This is a pleasant thing to do, it turns out.

I'm not saying anything especially original here. I'm just laying out the dynamic that I've come to realize is at the absolute center of our politics now: false accusations of lying and bias against all the people and institutions whose well-developed norms give them a way to figure out the truth.

It has been the honor of my life to serve as Commissioner of BLS alongside the many dedicated civil servants tasked with measuring a vast and dynamic economy. It is vital and important work and I thank them for their service to this nation.

Good point from @wyden.senate.gov: Trump's corrupt BLS firing is now on congressional Republicans. Dems need to hang this around their necks mercilessly.

NEW: A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to unfreeze federal funds.

Then the harassment began.

Pizzas sent to his home in the name of Judge Esther Salas’s murdered son, Daniel.

Six credible threats to his life.

More than 400 β€œvile” calls to his chambersβ€”including this voicemail:

Only raised the point because I think it *does* affect the psychology of candidates when they’re actually literally worried about it less - opens up opportunities / courage etc.

Certainly, I just hope that there isn’t a sense out there that running for office is categorically a worse option than organizing because of the partial focus on money. I look up to the candidates who can inspire enough to worry about it marginally less.

Respectful caveat that the handful of candidates who are truly inspiring people don’t have to worry as much about money, and that says something about the abundance mindset that is possible when candidates do politics correctly

This has consequences beyond individual cases. A problem judge on a court, even one that employs panels like the courts of appeal, can destroy morale/collegiality, increase distrust, and erode the rule of law in ways not obvious to the public.

Trump’s pardon power is a double-edged sword | CNN Attempting to place himself above the law using a pardon power could land Donald Trump right under Robert Mueller’s thumb, Asha Rangappa says.

Pardon Watch πŸ‘€: One thing about Trump is that he tends to pardon people for crimes he has been accused or appears guilty of. It's a weird psychological thing, sort of a "self-pardon by proxy." I observed this very early in his first administration, as I pointed out here www.cnn.com/2018/06/05/o...
