The rational message in a tinderbox situation like this is "if you see abusive or lawless action from these agents, please stay calm and report things you see to us so that we can either investigate or help to direct you to the appropriate authorities"

3. While he may have implied that he was talking specifically about official acts, by never delineating any boundaries, it is unclear what he means and TBH I am not confident about it. He may (may!) think CPD can arrest an agent for off-duty sexual assault at a bar but what about one in an ICE van 🤷

2. ICE scope will only ever expand (and never get un-murky) if court challenges are not brought. Sure, the vast majority of those will be brought by private civil actions, but no private citizen can collect and secure evidence like CPD can, and has every right to.

Police violence is part of our national fabric. You will not find us diminishing that. It's hard to believe any cops could be worse than a department who ran a torture black site. But DHS is entirely unleashed and unaccountable. They will kill more people by the end of this month if not stopped.

I bet she has a real, legitimate budget issue on her hands but this is not the way to resolve it

Important to note ICE tends to drop off detainees before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m., which is why people were protesting at 5 a.m. to begin with. It's not because waking up at 4 a.m. was a convenient time for protesters!
