Some asteroids were mined for minerals, methane or water, some served as truck stops for traffic between the outer and inner planets.

Some of those became destinations in their own right, like asteroid 52692. Covered in hydroponic tuber farms, it was the home of the famous Scalzi Space Potato.

The message from the stars was very long and complex, but contained instructions how to decode and parse it incrementally.

There was an image, of a very cute furry creature. And a text, which loosely translated said:

"Send cat pics please!'

I don't know if non-lawyers understand how insane this statement is. I honestly can't think of anything remotely comparable in non-lawyer speak. I guess the closest would be a surgeon saying "Imagine if I had to wash my HANDS before doing surgery!"

The Copperhead Award trophy designed and cast by Chesley Award-winning sculptor Vincent Villafranca of Wise County, Texas. It has a sort of monster with a lizard-like form on a rock (or possibly a battered helmet?) with a long curled tail (like a chameleon) it has pentacle claw like hands (appendages) and holds a snake shaped staff in its right hand—it wears what is possibly a mask/breathing apparatus On its back seems to be a little astronaut on a saddle with a plinth, kneeling reading a book? It’s fantastical

The first Hugo I won (in 2018 at the San Jose Worldcon) had a bronze base made by Vincent Villafranca and Sara Felix. His sculpture is unique and gorgeously strange.
