The whole “false allegations ruin lives” narrative has always upset me so much because it is sexual violence that ruins far more lives, but people care far more about the 2 to 5 percent of false accusations than we do about the 1 in 4 women and the 1 in 6 children who experience sexual violence.

i am happy that i did, though, because so far the series is handling all of those themes well in terms of acknowledging the horror and the horror's impact on the characters. all of the in-world racism feels intentional on the part of the writers, nothing feels accidental in that regard #blackontv

it's taken me a while to prepare myself to watch this series because i knew going in that abuse and predation is an intrinsic part of the narrative so i would be exposed to triggers that i have such as "gaslighting" and "antiblack racism/slavery" #blackontv
