In 4 weeks, @whyhellokayleigh.bsky.social and I will be walking 16.6 miles from Burton down to The Lamb to watch Tamworth v Carlisle United in an effort to raise money for Parkinson's UK

16.6 miles to represent the 166,000 people living with Parkinson's.

One of the teams spunked £70 on a striker in the summer. We aren't the same at all.

Interesting opinion, I'd mostly much prefer local. I've had an op under local but in an operating theatre, that was an experience.

Definitely not really at the level of a team chasing UCL places. And in a better financial situation, wouldnt be at the club.

This much rambling probably isn’t what Bluesky is for, but meh. It's what I have.

As she broke down on me in the street, holding on to me, it hit home the further impact of Parkinsons. As I feel I’ve to come to a logical understanding of the situation with my Grandad; I’ve neglected the wider impact, especially on my Gran. A real awakening and, yeah, a properly hard evening.

As we left, my Gran came out to the car, as she usually does & it became clear shes struggling. Shes been through her own cancer battle and is basically spending her own retirement being the carer for her husband and watching him become a shadow of the man that’s been by her side for over 30 years.

My Gran sorted some soup and aided my Grandad to the dining room table – as stubborn as he has always been, he wanted her to step away for him to sit down, though she was helping as he seemed unsteady.

Had a brew, bit of a chat – a nice unplanned visit, though my Grandad was definitely a bit confused by things – probably the TV not working and the unplanned visit.

But tonight has hit different, a new hard. We got a call from my Gran – the TV has stopped working, can I have a look? No problem. Headed up and it seems a power cut had confused the BT box, so reset that and all good.

Its been incredibly tough. I understand it now, he has Parkinsons in his late 80s. There'll be good days & bad days. Visiting is still difficult, but better. Whether its exchanging stories & memories or watching whatever is on the TV together, I am embracing every moment of company we have together.

Over the last 10 years, I’ve seen my Grandad, my hero, disintegrate at the hands of Parkinsons, from a man still marching around the Lakeland fells and crawling around under cars to basically being resigned to sat in a chair all day and reliant on walking aids, wheel chairs and a stair lift.

Apologies in advance – this isn’t a fun set of posts but man, I really need to just…let it out.

Teetotal I can live with.

Frustrating is the word, ultimately. Brentford were pinned back for basically the whole 2nd half. Defended deep and compact. #avfc created a lot of chances and basically did everything they can but score. And not scoring was just frustrating, especially when so many chances were created.

I've absolutely no doubt the ball went out. Can accept that, no problem.

But that's what the linesman is for. Using VAR after such an amount of time and various passages of play to rule a goal out is ridiculous. #avfc

I feel like he's been targeted pretty heavily too. Either Onana or Barkley do have me nervous with how physical Brentford have been, but we do need their ability.
