This current American presidential administration is run by people who are quite obviously mentally ill, and we need to start talking about that.

Faith communities have a critical role in defending our nation’s libraries (RNS) — The protection of libraries and the stories they hold should be understood as a wider commitment of our communities to religious freedom.

OPINION: The work of protecting libraries, confronting book bans and defeating censorship is aligned with so many faith communities’ dedication to truth, compassion and justice.

New report exposes the ongoing scourge of book-banning  The level of censorship in the United States remains at an alarmingly unacceptable level, as PEN America’s recently released banned-books report reveals. We at the Freedom From Religion Foundation are deeply familiar with the awful history of censorship — and the recent trendline is profoundly troubling.

Chicken Little

For no reason, just remembered this explicitly antifascist version of Chicken Little that Disney made in 1943. It's about the danger of following leaders who tell big lies. youtu.be/p_GaYdae4j0?...

"Leftist political terrorism is a clear and present danger. Corrupted ideologies like transgenderism and Antifa are a cancer on our culture and have unleashed their deranged and drugged-up foot soldiers on the American people," said Attorney General Paxton. "The martyrdom of Charlie Kirk marks a turning point in America.
There can be no compromise with those who want us dead. To that end, I have directed my office to continue its efforts to identify, investigate, and infiltrate these leftist terror cells. To those demented souls who seek to kill, steal, and destroy our country, know this: you cannot hide, you cannot escape, and justice is coming."
The radical Left has incubated an environment where political violence is not only justified but celebrated and praised. In July, nearly two dozen armed leftists connected to various Texas-based Antifa-like groups ambushed an Immigration and Customs Enforcement ("ICE") facility in Alvarado, Texas. On September 10, 2025, a leftist assassin connected to the radical transgender movement murdered Charlie Kirk because of Kirk's bold support for truth, love of country, and unshakable faith. Two weeks later, another deranged leftist opened fire at an ICE facility in Dallas.
President Donald Trump has officially designated Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization and instructed his administration to "utilize all applicable authorities to investigate, disrupt, and dismantle any and all illegal operations — especially those involving terrorist actions — conducted by Antifa." Building on President Trump's bold actions, Attorney General Paxton has instructed his office to initiate sweeping investigations into radical leftist organizations engaged in or providing support to those performing political violence.

Citing the “martyrdom” of Charlie Kirk, Texas AG Ken Paxton says his office is pursuing sweeping undercover investigations into “leftist” groups. “To those demented souls who seek to kill, steal, and destroy our country, know this: you cannot hide, you cannot escape, and justice is coming."

Text from "They Knew" by Sarah Kendzior:

As I wrote in Hiding in Plain Sight, the oft-recited claim that
"nobody saw it coming" is an admission of whom the speaker considers to be nobody. In the United States, "nobody" historically included women, immigrants, poor people, and anyone who is not white. People dismissed as nobody are those most likely to be affected by a terrible situation and therefore the most likely to warn about it in advance. "Somebody" is a similarly convoluted category. For centuries, to be somebody in the United States meant to be a wealthy white man or to be treated like one. This idea of "somebody" is baked into the founding of the country, in which only white male landowners were granted the right to vote. White, land-owning men who deviated from the establishment were often punished for their efforts: castigated as troublemakers or conspiracy theorists. The goal was to reduce them, at least in their ability to gain institutional support, to the status of "nobody."

I always think of this quote (from They Knew by Sarah Kendzior) when people say this.

It would be a good time to pass my bill to make English the official language of America.

And the NFL needs to stop having demonic sexual performances during its halftime shows."

If you didn't want Puerto Ricans speaking Spanish in the US, you should've thought about that before you colonized the island and forcefully made it a part of the US.

Opinion | Democrats shouldn’t bail out Trump as the shutdown drags on The best time for the opposition to take a stand, rather than settle for untrustworthy promises, is right now.

"The Trump WH is abusing power and hurting people but faces resistance from a deeply ingrained liberal and democratic US culture," says @nicholasgrossman.bsky.social. Small wins "counteract Trump’s intimidation, making him seem smaller."

Yep, shrinking Trump is the key
