Current mood: despairing about my ability to read every book I got through Overdrive before I have to return them. (Did find one irritating wonky thing in the Kobo integration, but it remains a pretty smooth integration that lets me bite off more than I have time to chew.)

Sadly, I think all pictures of the little dude were lost. (Though my mom keeps talking about how all the baby books are gone, then I remind her that nah, I stole mine years ago, and I also took a handful of family photos, so I might have him in one. If I am lucky.)

We did make my MiL check her power strips and replace any inappropriately used or crappy ones! And now we don't have to convince Mom to move somewhere she can physically handle! I am generally able to be philosophical about the situation, but sometimes, the suck just comes into focus.

Don't put off scanning in family photos and copying recipes is one of the big lessons to come out of the retrospective here. (Have an inventory of personal possessions in the cloud is another one. I will get right on that...) (I will not get right on that.)

It's going to be just an endless trickle of these realizations. I guess that's more conducive to functioning than having them hit all at once.

Because my mother might see it elsewhere namespace, and that could distress her, last night's cooking show based realization is that all the recipes and the little metal recipe box are gone. The box of birthday candles (reused always) with the little wooden man who graced our cakes is gone.

On the plus side, I am taking the opportunity to use longish car rides to break in a pair of my "I was the target market" Docs.

It is now two weeks post-fire. We have hit the "everything is annoying me" part of the process. Sadly, this is not an actionable part of it, which is also annoying me.

My younger sibling had some gnarly burns on his dominant hand from the fire nation attacking while he was blasting the extinguisher at it, but he's healing up nicely and won't need skin grafts. From a physical standpoint, they're all okay, so hey. Could be a hell of a lot worse.

Got out six minutes after closing. Only lost half the day!

The office closes in 34 minutes, but the manager has said they will stay until everyone with a ticket has been served. So there is that.

I mean, in part of her own making, and by in part, I mean mostly.

Which one? (I think more than one of the cast has been on there, so now I am wondering which Taskmaster NZ series to watch first.)
