02.12.2025 21:48 β π 1 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0it's important not to make up a fake crisis in your head that leads to denying disabled people easy access to accommodations
02.12.2025 21:40 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Ok but 'we need to shame people for cheating' and 'people shouldn't have to prove they deserve accomodations' are mutually exclusive???
02.12.2025 21:41 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Pretty much! And then they'll be like "oh I meant ppl should not park in handicapped spaces" no you didn't
02.12.2025 21:38 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So hereβs the thing: I, a certified Disabledβ’οΈ Person, do not actually care if anyone fakes for an extra 20 minutes on the test. I care deeply about how the fear of that very thing puts up flaming hoops disabled people have to jump through.
Maybe listen to disabled folk on this one.
the latter problem can only exist if you treat disability accommodations as a secondary carve-out rather than designing systems for access first
02.12.2025 21:27 β π 66 π 7 π¬ 6 π 0This isn't hard at all. The answer is β¦ just fucking accommodate people.
Are there some annoying-ass fakers out there who try to game the system? Sure! I've met 'em! I hate 'em!
But if you let your hatred of them stop you from giving me the accommodations I need β well, I might hate you even more.
Fact check it is not important

02.12.2025 15:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Idk if Netflix cares but someone reporting on box office should be aware the Netflix situation affects where it gets screened.
02.12.2025 15:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Netflix is obvs fine with this because they just want ppl to subscribe + watch it onlune but repirting this against the gross of the original is silly
02.12.2025 15:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0'Fewer screens than last time but the per screen average went down' umm the fewer screens were in fewer cities not everybody gonna drive 90 minutes

02.12.2025 14:57 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Saved by Stoppard Sir, In 1993 my wife and I went to see the first production of Arcadia by Tom Stoppard (obituary, Dec I), and in the interval I experienced a Damascene conversion. As a clinical scientist I was trying to understand the enigma of the behaviour of breast cancer, the assumption being that it grew in a linear trajectory spitting off metastases on its way. In the first act of Arcadia, Thomasina asks her tutor, Septimus: "If there is an equation for a curve like a bell, there must be an equation for one like a bluebell, and if a bluebell, why not a rose?" With that Stoppard explains chaos theory, which better explains the behaviour of breast cancer. At the point of diagnosis, the cancer must have already scattered cancer cells into the circulation that nest latent in distant organs. The consequence of that hypothesis was the birth of "adjuvant systemic chemotherapy", ", and rapidly we saw a striking fall of the curve that illustrated patients' survival. Stoppard never learnt how many lives he saved by writing Arcadia. Michael Baum Professor emeritus of surgery; visiting professor of medical humanities, UCL r.
