finally some innovation
06.08.2025 15:53 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0yeah, that's about where i am w/ it. some things irk me but it's pretty usable once you understand the paradigm it wants you to use.
it feels like everything is slightly clunkier than i want it but i'm slowly learning to avoid the gotchas
your game looks v. cool. how is godot treating you?
06.08.2025 02:19 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0i made this today.
18.07.2025 00:03 โ ๐ 30 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0this audacity setting actually changes your windows mic input volume everywhere iirc so watch out in other programs!
15.07.2025 14:56 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0the witness has a more directly antagonistic relationship with the player -- early examples intentionally lead the player to believe simplified versions of the rules that then get dismantled or refined by counter-examples later on. witness constantly forces the player to challenge their assumptions.
13.07.2025 11:23 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0witness actually spawned a new subgenre of puzzle (teach yourself the rules by example) that inspired quite a few games in the space. i don't think his game design is lacking, exactly, but he's certainly way too full of himself and has actively harmful ideas about a lot of things.
12.07.2025 16:40 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0excellent
12.07.2025 06:18 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0try re-contextualizing the controls in your head as an intentional design element rather than a mistake?
there are plenty of good games with clunky controls -- stuff in the Prince of Persia lineage (even the original 3D Tomb Radiers) are all about precision and getting stuck in animations
even in games with very imbalanced first moves, you can usually fix it with the pie rule, (e.g. first player moves, second player decides if they want to play from that position and become first player, or respond and stay second player)
11.07.2025 17:41 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Hey, would you look at that, A Solitaire Mystery is out on Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/3743220/...

idk i think this just makes sense -- even without malicious intent it's hard to verify the hardware and firmware and software are working correctly, especially for the layman. a physical cover is always preferable in a situation where you want to KNOW it's not seeing anything.
09.07.2025 05:30 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0hmmm -- maybe i don't think that personal context is on the same axis as pursuing something. i chase what's interesting to me, otherwise i don't have much motivation to make anything. but in that pursuit the boring invisible me seeps in anyway.
06.06.2025 23:29 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0isn't genre just the cultural context in which your work exists? what's distasteful about pursuing genre if you want to invoke that context? is defying genre substantially different than pursuing it? would it be different in other media e.g. music?
06.06.2025 23:13 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0this was great! love hearing people talk about games they like!

would rather argue w/ you for 90+ seconds than wait 90 seconds for a game to start

an active game of drop10. it seems to involve gravity
"Make Lawn", one of the modes. There are a lot of green threes littered on the board. There's an "undo" button and no timer.
The post-game summary screen for the Daily mode. "Next sticker: 300 points (they're just pretty)". Three options of modes to unlock next: Drop10(long), MakeTen(wild), and MakeHeaven(classic)
New game: Make Ten Deluxe! Select numbers that add to ten, easy. Then try dozens of wild variants -- 35+ modes
These are the most surprising, challenging, or otherwise delightful modes that I've made over the past year. Enjoy!

I made Scritch, a simple, fully customizable media player designed for music artists ๐ต
Originally made in response to Epic's acquisition of Bandcamp, I realized @itch.io would be a perfect place for musicians to distribute their albums. The only thing missing was a media player...
So I built one!
