Bill Bixby is still the BEST (David) Bruce Banner actor ever. He brought total conviction, dignity and tragedy to the role. He never phoned it in or hammed it up. Like Christopher Reeve made us believe a man could fly, Bill Bixby was totally a man you wouldn't want to make angry.

Kind of baffled to discover Return of the Jedi wasn't shown on UK TV until Boxing Day 1989, 4 months after Batman came out at the pictures. We didn't have a VCR but I feel like I'd already seen RotJ a ton of times by that point? How or where, I've no idea

Absolutely not a good old days kids-on-bikes adventure romp for the whole family

Really wasn't expecting it but the first episode of Welcome to Derry was kind of a banger

'...We Are Sex Bob-Omb' from the Scott Pilgrim soundtrack and 'Unlock' by Sonny Vincent & Rocket From The Crypt feature exactly the same riff, in the same key, were written, recorded and released at roughly the same time, but apparently are completely unrelated to one another?

Wild that they had all the universe-shattering stuff (CoIE, Flashpoint etc) happen in-universe, but couldn't resist dropping the odd dumb continuity implant in (most egregiously, the first arc of the Johns/Lee New 52 Justice League being the actual origin of the Silver Age JLA)

Last issue of New History of the DC Universe out today. Twice as long as the Wolfman/Perez original and not even half as good. Was really looking forward to this but it's mostly been a dud sadly. Glad we got those incredible Scott Koblish variants at least.

Just finished updating and rejiggering a bunch of stuff in the Universe B section of Deep Space Transmissions, including some new nuggets from GM's recent Reddit AMA

Per their own website Dynamite do "own and control" Vampirella, along with Evil Ernie and Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt (?!). Rights for Red Sonja are, like all Conan-adjacent stuff, vastly complicated

Homelander, Sub-Zero, Vampirella & Red Sonja To Appear In DC’s K.O. NYCC: Homelander, Sub-Zero, Vampirella, Red Sonja, Annabelle, and Sam from Beneath The Trees appear in DC’s K.O

Do Ennis and Robertson still own The Boys or have they sold it outright to Dynamite?

I'd guess it's probably something that was reprinted somewhere in the early 70's, as that's how they tend to roll

If anyone has any idea what this proto-Phantom Stranger comic Grant Morrison mentions here might be let me know, I'm all ears

It was iirc barely released in the UK. I really wanted to see it and I think there was one showing in the Boro that I couldn't go to for some reason, then it was gone

DC had the good fortune to be owned by a conglomerate that also owned a proper book publisher (Warner Books) in the 80's. Even Marvel are (still!) a million miles from managing to keep stuff in print and available the way DC have with DKR, Watchmen etc

Finished watching Alien Earth - a real mixed bag there. The bits that cribbed most heavily from the previous films (Olyphant, Ceesay, Edmondson, the stuff on the ship) were pretty good. Some of the other stuff (the main A plot, unfortunately) were borderline dreadful.

Thanks to 'Tec #1027 and the 18 (!) variant covers for Proctor Valley Road #1, I'm well out of this habit now.

I'd still buy them if I saw them for a couple of quid tho.

10 DC/Marvel Batman/Deadpool Exclusive Covers Looking For Retailers Ten DC/Marvel Batman/Deadpool exclusive covers looking ror retailers to be exclusive to...

29 covers (so far) for Batman/Deadpool #1.

Assuming some (or all) of these 10 retailer-specific covers will come in copy-free and black and white variants, this will probably end up beating Detective Comics #1027 for 'Grant Morrison comic with most variant covers'

Get Alex Cox in as the new showrunner. Ecclestone's back, half the episodes are shot in Mexico/in Spanish, everything's all time hall of fame bananas, absolutely nobody watches it πŸ‘

I have, many years back. It's pretty hard work iirc. Eccleston is in Cox's Death and the Compass as well, which is a much easier watch and really really good
