Trans people are worth protecting. Not because we are amazing people (although we are) or because we offer a great deal to society (although we do) or because we are fine as hell (we are). We are worth protecting because we are HUMAN BEINGS, and it’s amazing how often that simple fact is forgotten.

I only did pizza for nine years, but after that (relatively) short time I got so used to the feel of dough that I could judge temperatures within two degrees by hand, nail weights without a scale, and get a full pie from phone to oven in twenty seconds.

All labor is skilled labor.

Ok, you know why I don’t like Gavin Newsom? You know how in While You Were Sleeping, Peter Gallagher’s family all talks about how he rescued a nest of baby birds as a kid, and later he admits he knocked their nest out of the tree with a rock, then made sure everyone saw him rescue it?

That’s Gavin.

On that note:

Trans authors (I mean authors who are trans, NOT cis people who write about trans people), drop your book links here and I'll try to repost as many as I can throughout the day.

So go ahead and check out that book even if you don't think you'll finish it. No one will know. Check out that DVD even though you might not like it. Get ambitious in your quest for knowledge.

Ok, so you “don’t get why accessibility is a big deal”…

…but you take elevators, roll your suitcase, read captions in noisy bars, & appreciate the option to work from home.

Friend, that’s disability justice improving your life.

Bear with me for this one because it will make sense.

I’ve now encountered several doctors who see my n95 in their exam room & instead of telling me I “don’t need it” tell me “you’re smart to do that.” Yet, most do not have a mask on themselves nor offer to put one on. Several have told me they’ve had covid half a dozen times & have persistent damage.

2️⃣ We've got a cure for #LongCovid
3️⃣ We have vaccines that prevent contraction / transmission

UNTIL THEN, WHAT DO WE DO?

The trains got way worse, but the state media TOLD everyone they were running on time.

We're seeing a lot of this, like with how we're all going to be healthier, somehow, without vaccines, testing for food-borne pathogens, cancer research, Medicare or Medicaid, reproductive healthcare, and so on.

Itch and Steam got a bunch of us thinking; we need a catalogue where creative (esp. NSFW & Queer) works are less vulnerable to censorship. A storefront we won't be delisted from. One giving us the autonomy to sell our stuff our way. So we're making Conjured Ink. You can join us. https://conjured.ink

And it's not just coming for SWers, it'll be coming for all LGBTQ content, because the people in charge view LGBTQ people as inherently pornagraphic!

It is none of my fucking business how other people get food into their bodies because I do not know their lives, circumstances, limitations, or practical realities.

But there should be more good, affordable options and the choices suck.

For decades, smoking was as normal & expected as breathing, even doctors smoked on the job. If you had asked people not to smoke, they'd have looked at you like you had 2 heads.

Imagine KNOWING just how dangerous it truly is during that time; that's how it feels to be COVID Competent today.
