here's hoping mousie made a soft landing and recovery and is not completely heartbroken that its dream of unlimited snacks did not come true.

as i picked things out of the cube, which i had tilted so he could make its escape, i see the mouse go rocketing out of the cube, across the deck, and ... sailing into the air over the driveway. friends, that mouse launched itself like it was a circus performer in a cannon.

sure enough, as i start removing hamster snacks, a field mouse and i come face to face. and mousie was shocked, shocked! that i had found its hiding spot. (busted!) took the cube outside to start emptying it and freeing the mouse.

took a while to determine it was coming from one of the storage cubes (the fabric folding type) on the shelf behind me. i checked and at first didn't see anything, but on the second look realized that a package had been nibbled through on the corner.

so: funny story. i was sitting at the dining room table the other day and kept hearing this odd sound, and i was trying to figure out if it was the chair squeaking (possible), but it didn't quite sound like that. it was an intermittent sound, too, which complicated things.

hopefully you're finding some small joys as well - and i hear you on the zip code. took me months to memorize the old one. this one clicked, but now i don't know where i have / haven't changed the info.

good sunday reset - Hamilton on the big screen, trying out a ramen place. recharging to get back into resisting and making change.

i remember reading a statistic a few years back about how often other countries amend their constitutions to adapt to, oh, i dunno, evolving needs? and somehow ours has calcified. (i say somehow, but there are clearly reasons.)

last week was heavy, so heavy. coworker killed in an accident, 9/11, some personal grief anniversaries, and the world on fire.

trying to navigate with some grace for myself and others around me.

leaving my bedroom shade up to wake up to the sun, to start the day with some small bit of joy.

rough week this week. a personal grief anniversary is this coming weekend, and this past weekend, we lost a coworker, whose funeral services will be this coming weekend.

for a variety of reasons, considering fostering cats/kittens this fall. still need to unpack first so as not to lose anyone in the box maze. emailing a few local organizations this week to see what the possibilities are.

my problem with the T*sla cybertruck (beyond the obvious ones) is that how is that thing a truck? i can likely fit more stuff in my car than in that thing. it's not big and square like a van, or square and open like a pickup. the geometry is just silly.

would love that - 'highway, sensible route, scenic route, mystery maze that only GPS could have invented'.

the number of times i have said to my nav app, 'you want to get on the highway for WHAT?' is non-zero.
