What Kids Told Us About How to Get Them Off Their Phones
Children who were raised on screens need more freedom out in the real world.
"Most of the children in our survey said that they arenโt allowed to be out in public at all without an adult. Fewer than half of the 8- and 9-year-olds have gone down a grocery-store aisle alone; more than a quarter arenโt allowed to play unsupervised even in their own front yard."

At this stage of media saturation, ignorance is no longer an excuse for the celebrities signing up to fund more attacks on trans people by JKR. They should be treated as what they are: figureheads actively promoting the oppression one of the most vulnerable and marginalised groups in societyโฆ

New online safety law savaged by watchdog as 'silencing a generation'
EXCLUSIVE: James Baker said that, important as it was to protect young people from online harm, it was just as crucial to respect their freedom of expression rights.
โThe Online Safety Act risks silencing a generation."
Older teenagers trying to engage with current events "may be cut off from vital sources of information because platforms will err on the side of removal to avoid hefty penalties.โ

One of the open goals Iโd be striking at if I wanted to really slow down the rollout of AI is the notion that a public conversation with an AI system is covered under the same laws that protect platforms in cases of user generated content committing a tort

If I have to explain to you why it's a bad idea to use a machine that makes shit up 15-80% of the time AND destroys the environment AND contributes to rising fascism and genocide AND puts brilliant skillful creatives out of work by stealing their work, then we're already speaking different languages

You know something that grinds my gears?
People in their 30s and 40s who post aggressively like 15 year olds.
And not even how 15 year olds posted when they were 15. How 15 year olds post now. They had to teach themselves how to sound like a current teen online.

And I think OpenAI, Meta, Microsoft etc know that.
It's why Microsoft is getting more conservative with its investments as OpenAI and Meta throw everything at the wall trying to discover the next big AI thing before their current AI tech becomes nearly worthless after costing them billions.

OpenAI releases a free GPT model that can run on your laptop
GPT-OSS is OpenAIโs first open-weight model in six years.
Had a chat with another software eng this week and agreed that the moment these models get efficient enough to run on mobiles it's basically game over for the big GenAI firms.
People will rip the code, sell it for chips, and people will stop using the big models.

Introducing the first AI prototype of a British MP๐ฌ๐ง๐ค
When constituent and local business owner, Jeremy Smith, approached me with this idea, I was very excited to work with him. The AI revolution is happening and we must embrace it to see how it can be useful, in all sectors.
Congratulations @markjsweards.bsky.social in becoming the first parliamentarian to be added to my GenAI block list.
An achievement in itself, but also an achievement to do something quite this stupid.
Jeremy Smith is going to make a fortune from whoever takes your seat after this.

Not sorry the artists you like don't like you treating their art with contempt.

Proudly posting about swearing at me and "I'll force you to block me everywhere"? Hah, good start, I'll consider your petition ๐ฎ

I've made pretty clear I'm more than happy to remove false positives from the list, very keen in fact, it's the only thing that makes the list usable.
Nearly 30 removed since it was set up (from closing on 9,000 on it, all manual adds).

01: A girl labeled 'Artists' is holding a drawing tablet and pen under her arm. She is wearing round glasses and a blue sweatshirt. She has messy dark-brown hair and a brown skin-tone. She says "We don't really wanna MAKE A.I. art."
02: A guy labeled 'Art Enjoyers' holds his hand out while speaking. She is wearing a purple and yellow hawaiian shirt with a floral pattern over a white t-shirt, and has red hair and a light skin-tone. He says "We don't really wanna SEE A.I. art."
03: Behind them both, there is a cute girl in a business suit with a pink tie. She is blushing a bit and has pink eyeshadow, and looks upset. Her messy shoulder-length hair is parted in the middle, and held by two hairclips: one that looks like a red arrow pointing down, and one that looks like a green arrow pointing up. She says "Um ... I-Isn't there someone you forgot to ask?" She is labeled 'Shareholders'.
04: She puffs up her cheeks and pouts, a tear is on the verge of falling from one of her eyes. 'Artist Enjoyers' Guy is now in front of her yelling "AH!! SHAREHOLDERS-CHAN!!" while 'Artists' Girl is in front of her yelling "WE'RE SORRY WE HURT YOU!!!!"

I'm consistently amused when people I follow on this account follow me on my other (politics) account.
I don't think that makes us official mutuals, even though technically we're both following one another, instead simply ships passing in the night.
