Our government have consistently treated disability as a charitable issue rather than a rights-based one. We are horrifically failing the disabled community in Ireland, and their families. We need to do a lot better and fast.

I wonder, are they also fundamental to human minds, do we have filtered which supress the wilder hallucinations? Are these very filters turned off by certain recreational drugs (at least that was a theory on how LSD works?) and if so, how would we trains a neural net to filterout BS from LLMs...

Evidentiary Pragmatism in Transgender Health Care | AJPH | Vol. 116 Issue 3 American Journal of Public Health (AJPH) from the American Public Health Association (APHA)

It took a hot minute, but I can finally share my new paper on evidentiary pragmatism in transgender health care!

In it, I propose a new principle for evaluating scientific evidence based on the best reasonably achievable evidence, avoiding the โ€˜catch-22โ€™ where trans care can never be justified.

I mean, strictly speak, Wisdom is about control and consequences of your actions.

Murdering someone in a moment of passion is less controlled than murdering someone after carefuly planning it out and thinking of the consequences, both are acts of hubris. But one is worse...

Sex drive and the great debate over whether testosterone can help Can boosting testosterone improve libido, or is much of the attention solely hype, profit, and placebo?

Huh, apparently โ€œmanyโ€ are walking away with TRT prescriptions on the NHS. I had no idea we could do that!

I was a little confused though as to the real genders of the interviewed people as there was no โ€œbiological femaleโ€ or โ€œbiological maleโ€ attached to any of the names.

Gender-affirming care has also consistently been shown to reduce psychological distress, dysphoria and suicidal thoughts. Read ๐Ÿ‘‰ buff.ly/UTSPnUz #GCNnews

It is ridiculous that we let free market economics determine what gets researched.

We have. Publicly funded basic research, and we should have public owned and patented vaccines being created by the same research and then allow private companies compete to deliver them....

Is there a reason for this? Like here some imagining that dogs are more likely to have multiple births... But they have littera not just twins. So two seperate things seems unlikely to be related.

The entire Tavistock scandal was over 8 complaints. They've fucked the entirety of trans and non binary peoples, because of 8 complaints, all of which have not materialised into anything as far as I can tell.

After WWI they introduced passports and hard borders, "to protect against foreign agents" entering countries. Now we have people drowning in the English Channel and Mediterranean to protect those borders. Little kids being abducted in the US.

Who said anything about Terraforming?

Sure, the surface of Venus is inhospitable, but there is a point in the atmosphere where it is approximately 1 standard earth atmosphere. Should be fairly safe from cosmic radiation aswell ..

How exactly are we supposed to know these things without having a human stay somewhere long term?

And I'm pretty sure Venus is fine when it comes to gravitation.

Power requirements are an interesting one.

I would love to see what chemistry you could come up with for dirt cheap batteries (ie made of dirt) based on moon dust/rocks... (Not that I think SpaceX should be involved).

so now it's literally give us your info or lose access to your communities and resources.

Humans die in earth all the time!

Also, Moon gravity is much stronger than microgravity... And protecting against radiation should be considerably easier on the Moon than on a spaceship (underground being a potential relatively cheap option)

It would be good enough, if we didn't have actual people in those school experiencing not being male/female while being XY/XX. ~5% of the population by some estimates (highest estimate where people aren't being actively suppressed).

The women fighting for trans inclusion at Hampstead ponds The High Court has rejected a legal challenge attempting to ban trans people from Hampstead Heathโ€™s single-sex ponds. Good Law Project speaks to the activists and regular swimmers behind the movement ...

"As co-chair, Beth, now 68, faced down intimidation from anti-trans groups to oversee a vote that cemented the Associationโ€™s inclusive ethos in 2024. It was, she says, 'the hardest thing I have ever done, and also the thing Iโ€™m the most proud of.'"

The @WorldAthletics
return to genetic testing revives one of sportโ€™s most damaging regulations. The SRY test erroneously assumes that a single gene can definitively identify sex. Yet, science has never supported that claim.
