Lot of people saying to just use storage optimization in Photos. The problem there is that it means Time Machine isn't backing the full-res photos up, so you're then relying on never losing access to iCloud/your Apple ID. I want full, local backups, too.

The @NVIDIAGFN upgrade crams an RTX 5080 into my MacBook Pro, and it's a thing of beauty. Especially with the new upgrade to proper 32:9 high-res support.

I'm in dire need of a new MBP, but replacing my current 1TB model is getting expensive. I'm thinking of settling for 512GB, but then there's the iCloud Photo Library problem.
