A brown knit onesie. It has legs with ribbed cuffs and no sleeves, though the top is also ribbed all the way across. In the center of the chest is a set of black eyes and small pink nose and mouth embroidered to look like a teddy bear. The onesie is on a pink and black floral duvet for presentation.

Taking to Bluesky bc the person receiving this gift is not On Here and I’m just so thrilled with how this little knit turned out! Objectively the embroidery could be cleaner and the snaps are actually too strong so buttons would have been easier but still cute.

Ah yeah, my main poorly-articulated point is that it’s okay to talk about discrimination you or others receive for being settled Irish, it’s just not racism! And everyone wants to call it racism, thus the endless arguments and people feeling like their experiences aren’t being respected.

In Ireland, settled people perceive racial differences in ways that people not from Ireland wouldn’t understand, I agree with that! And this is replicated in other countries / ethnic groups as well.

Right, in countries where others perceive racial difference, that’s what I was saying. Just agreeing that Irish people are now largely understood as white, but can still experience bigotry and, outside of the UK and Ireland, the same goes Travellers, if that makes sense.

I think we all really need to get more comfortable with the term “bigotry.” There is a lot of bigotry and discrimination that has absolutely nothing to do with perceived race / skin colour. Still extremely bad, but not racism.
