Yes tinned tomatoes on toast has some heritage; my dad regularly had it at home. Iβll have it for breakfast in hotels if they have tinned, which is rare nowadays.
Chilli on toast is acceptable. Quicker than baking a potato for leftovers.

Chilli on toast is perfectly acceptable. As are tinned tomatoes on toast once discarded the juice and seasoned well.
