As a freelance TV editor I can tell you firsthand, things are dire in the industry right now. Advertisers are all going online and free-to-air budgets are getting slashed to ribbons. Nobody is buying local content it's all overseas streamers, & a lot of talented folks can no longer make a living.

Not to mention the game itself just has immaculate vibes. Creeping through deserted swamps and buildings, listening for every crack and creak, watching with held breath as a big stompy robot patrols right by my hiding spot

I don't normally buy games on day 1, but I wanted to get in on the ARC Raiders community as it was being formed.
And it's been so fun! A lot of experienced extraction shooter players are blasting on sight, but a lot of others are chilling, joking and even helping one another. It's been great

For real. I have backed out of several shooting matches with other raiders simply because I didn't want to expend the ammo for potentially a handful of springs or something.

I got sniped last night from a mile away on a bridge and I was like... Wtf you aren't even gonna get my (mediocre) loot here, this is just griefing.
But yeah have had a few lovely wholesome interactions as well, it's a fine balance right now

To your point, I think without the looming threat of losing all your gear, that tension would be entirely absent. Hiding in a bush as a group of raiders creep past is absolutely nail biting when you've got a full pack.
Plus I love the detail in the world they've built. Just enjoying exploring.

I'm not an extraction shooter player (this is the first I've tried) and I'm absolutely loving it. The tension in every encounter keeps each round fresh. I've been shot on sight as much as I've had fun chats and team ups and arc are deadly enough to encourage people towards cooperation

I hope the community stays this open to silliness and mucking about as the game matures. I've been shot on sight as much as I've had dance-offs, and I home the incidence of the former doesn't create a distrust feedback loop

I can’t help but feel that several criminal charges will ultimately come from these strikes.

It makes far more sense to interdict them.
