I think it’s the post-rookie-year expectations of him becoming the best player in baseball. Instead, he’s a top ~3 CF in MLB and with room to get better (he’s only 24!!). Hard to argue with his results of course but he hasn’t ascended yet. As a result, a segment of the fan base is truly delusional.

Frustrating offseason breeds discontent for Mariners fans
The Mariners’ roster-building philosophy is maddening for fans — does that mean it’s less effective?
Forgot to put this out here yesterday. Jerry Dipoto's team-building philosophy is counter to how many teams operate — and specifically, how fans *wish* teams would operate. Will it frustrate the fanbase? Yes. Will it work? TBD.
