Small typo in footnote? You refer to Jan 2026 import price index. (Or am I misunderstanding the counter factual?)

Have you written anywhere about what the alternative would be? I doubt many of those 46% have given it much thought, but would be interested in your take. (My instinct is we have the best of both worlds now—a stable system but without the distraction of day-to-day gossip due to distance.)

In 2015 Trudeau talked a lot about “social infrastructure” in my recollection, which included things like childcare. I was under the impression Carney was going to be less loose with the demarcation but not sure why that’s my impression.

Perhaps the audio is like the gold and white dress. I clearly hear “or” but I’ve learned that these things aren’t as clear cut as they seem!

The NY Times quoted it as “or”, and as you say, it only makes sense that way in the broader context of the speech and Trump’s usual (such that it exists) position on these things.

He said “or”, not “but”. Then states what he thinks the purpose actually is in the last statement.

He didn’t say that. Listen with audio on. Just a heads up since the post you quoted is (probably unintentional) misinformation.
