The placing your units at the start of the battle is probably the feature that is annoying me most because like, I have no idea how the map looks. Am i placing them on an island? Am I placing them in front of a wall? Where are they in relation to anyone else? I have no idea.

The mechanic where after like, 3 or so rounds an enemy becomes a crystal that can heal you or that in some cases you can learn a skill from, or they become an item, seems entirely useless as I have yet had a battle last long for that to count down outside of random battles I've used to grind points.

So part of this reason is because the arenas are so pathetically small that you can usually hit anything on the first round, so you've usually taken out any major threat before it even gets a second turn.

It was, essentially, a nuke.

For those that never experienced the N64 version, it replaced the freeze thrower and could be charged up, causing the weapon to shake and whine and then would fire this massive plasma ball that would explode on impact turning the screen white for a second before revealing its massive blast radius.

100% it was completely self aware, and almost a satire of like 80s action movie tropes (and like 50s space serials but don't quote me on the decade) rather than an homage. And yes, chapter 2 in space was genuinely fucking creepy.

Loved the plasma cannon which just felt like the most badass weapon.

Duke Nukem was like the quintessential game of the 90s while also being so based off of 80s action tropes.
