I think the key word is "nearly". Driver accountability is a good thing. So is cyclist accountability. I can't tell you the number of bicyclists I've had to stomp on my brakes for because they are swerving into oncoming traffic, popping "wheelies", or my favorite, wearing all black with no lights.

A number of police get into it for the power trip. And are not the sharpest tools in the shed. These are easily led by the militaristic approach. I am so sorry about this encounter.

More than ever, we need to re-mame stuff. If places want to continue DEI practices, they can not have a "Dept of Welcoming Services". Don't define it, and it could be a Special Events dept! Grant apps for studies, don't define your subject pool. Make it random. Capture specifics for data analysis.

Not that I'm not shaking my head at this stuff. But I feel I should say that back in the 50's, this was commonplace. For measles and chicken pox. No idea what the morbidity/mortality rate was then, just that there didn't seem to be much concern. But parents were very pro-vaccine for available ones!
