π¨Excited to share that the first study of my dissertation work has been accepted for publication in MWR! In this paper, we examined simulated ZDR columns in QLCSs to diagnose their connections to QLCS properties and sensitivities to microphysics schemes.

Thank you Matt! Our conversation that we had last week definitely helped me substantially for this defense - so thank you so much! We talked a lot about what you and I talked about in my private session π

After a long and wild journey, I am very pleased to announce that today I successfully defended my PhD dissertation on simulated ZDR columns in QLCSs in CM1. So happy to be done and so grateful to all the individuals that helped me on this wild adventure! #meteorology

Yesterday, #ICECHIP teams collected numerous hailstones > 100 mm in diameter, with the largest one being at least 139 mm (5.47 inches) just east of Afton, Texas. These stones will be sent to the cold lab at NCAR.

Big RFD cut with a dusty tornado forming below it.
Extremely dusty elephant trunk tornado.
The same dusty elephant trunk tornado, but with an eerie green tint (the hail was about to arrive...)
The same tornado, but with a big RFD clear slot behind it and bands of cloud spiraling about the funnel like a barber pole.
Followed this spectacular tornado from formation to demise over 20 minutes near Akron, CO. Also saw some @nsficechip.bsky.social groups out there--congrats on what must have been an amazing IOP!

I finally joined BlueSky - happy to be here!
For my first post, I will be defending my dissertation work on simulated QLCSs and ZDR columns on June 19th! Both of my dissertation studies will be soon published in MWR! Excited to share this research! #meteorology #UNL #wxbluesky #severeweather
