And, like, that's just my regular modern life. Part of the reason i play is to get away from that. Because I know who I am is awesome even if the world doesn't see or reward it.

And therefore things which remove the ability to win playing that way feel like being told "you" aren't valid or acceptable. People will happily accept a 10% lower win chance to play as themself, but at some point it becomes "You are a loser. Winning requires you conform and be someone you're not".

Been mussing on this for a while, but you put it better than I could. It's the appeal of PoE's "build diversity", Twilight Imperium's "Factions", MtG's "commanders"...

Such things make a strict 'balance' impossible, but we want them because they let us show who we are through how we choose to play.

Some see this as splitting the community, some see it as further barriers to entry to new players, etc etc.

I think all of that misses the point, though, because to me the entire reason we play these games to begin with is to express ourselves within the confines of an agreed rules set.

Britain's chemical castration plan for sex offenders seems like the most obvious attempt to avoid doing anything about sex offending, while giving the govt an excuse to release large numbers of offenders despite the fact people can and do offend while chemically castrated.

If you write about fascism, you need to be telling some kind of message. Just portraying the horrific brutalities of fascism does not make a thing satire. And message that, at it's best, occasionally reaches the heights of "fascism is bad actually" is also not satire.

It gets extra frustrating cos I know a bunch of trans 40k fans who will lament how the cis can't give up their precious wizard school, while at the same time desperately justifying clinging to daddy god emperor.

40k's non-right fanbase constantly uses the false history of "but it's satire", to lie to themselves about the rampant real world fascism it has built and supported.

It wasn't satire at the start, and isn't recognisable as satire now.

The actual act was good, but watching the right go into sobbing meltdown and crying big fashy tears because they know everyone will be just as glad when they are wormfood too is just glorious.

Is it just me or did Glinner just admit it towards the end? He agreed his posts were abusive, and (when asked why repeated abuse isn't harrassment) all but says "It is, but I hate these TRAs and had to take matters into my own hands".

I struggle to see how he wins this (other than court bias).
