My main problem with DA, now I'm older, is the massive amount of privilege he benefitted from. Cambridge, Footlights, Python, Graham, Ringo, hit novels w/o plots, ruining other people's marriages(!), making unplayable games, playing with Pink Floyd(!). None of it would have happened w/o privilege.

Douglas Adams = *massively* overrated. Anyone with a Pythonesque turn of phrase could've written HHGG and the whole thing would be better if it had an actual plot. Dirk is his best work as it has one.

The "cognitive decline and brain damage from repeat COVID infections" and "easy to use robot that makes slop and melts your critical thinking skills" is a hell of a combo in a post-fact media ecosystem

We wouldn't tolerate an architect breaking into our homes, moving round the furniture and redesigning our environment, so why do we let software companies do this continually with our various software habitats?
