I think we are on the same page, all things considered. This was not inherently the dems fault but they bear some responsibility. Leaderships' refusal to try to limit any of this before it got to this point is worthy of intense criticism but it certainly would not have been this bad if they won.

I agree with you, I do think a lot of people are glib about what can and cannot be done because it's cathartic to yell online these days, but I also think "start doing what we ask or we're going to primary you" is a fine way to go about it.

People have warned about this inevitable escalation for literally decades at this point and were always shouted down as GOP supporters in disguise who won't stop attacking the poor ol' dems. It's always "that will never happen" until it does and then once it does its "well *we* didn't do it"

I don't think they would have done that, I just think they would continue funding similar but lesser operations to prime ICE for the next guy to allow this very thing, whether it was their intention or not.

There are obviously degrees to the evil being perpetrated by the government writ large and realistically I think it's probably more of a societal and governmental expectation to be cruel to immigrants than it is a written, expressed goal of the democratic party.

I think its disingenuous to imply anyone serious is saying "it was always this bad." It's definitely worse now, no question. The problem is that this was always going to be the result, and while in power dems & liberal voters chided leftists for complaining that they were empowering this very thing

Quite simply, whats got people finally riled up is the disruption and murder of white families and citizens. All of it was just "yeah well, what can ya do 🤷‍♂️" from the pundit class before this during the dems time in power.
