More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days. The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally β€” almost certainly incomplete β€” includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...

Americans have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents.

They’ve had their necks kneeled on.

They’ve been held outside in the rain while in their underwear.

At least three citizens were pregnant when agents detained them.

We need to teach people the difference between being uncomfortable and being unsafe. Because the discomfort of the safest people is endangering the most vulnerable, all day every day.

Ohio State president says he feels 'no pressure' after White House complaints Ted Carter said the university will hire staff with different political beliefs as President Trump continues to crack down on perceived issues in education.

You will hire staff based on their political views in response to some folks who insist (without much evidence) universities are indoctrinating students? Ohio State and Columbia vying for least impressive leadership and weakest commitment to principles.

If a sitting president can openly muse about arresting and disappearing someone who is likely to become mayor of the country's largest city, while also getting the funding for a massive secret police, it'd be hard to find sufficient evidence to qualify that country as a democracy.

A bar chart titled β€œThe Cost of Billionaires Visualized” compares major U.S. expenses to the 2024 year-over-year wealth gains of just 100 billionaires. Bars represent spending or gains in billions of dollars and are labeled with household-level (HH) equivalents. Categories shown include:
	β€’	Ending homelessness: $20B ($159 per household)
	β€’	Federal employees: $210B ($1,670/HH)
	β€’	Teacher salaries: $214B ($1,702/HH)
	β€’	Gasoline: $307B ($2,449/HH)
	β€’	Groceries: $664B ($5,278/HH)
	β€’	Defense budget: $824B ($6,553/HH)
	β€’	100 billionaires: $1,094B ($8,700/HH)

A red banner at the bottom reads: β€œIf we can’t afford groceries, we definitely can’t afford billionaires.”
Sources listed include HUD, NEA, BLS, USDA, OPM, and Bloomberg (Dec. 31, 2024).

If you took the $1.1 trillion earned by just 100 billionaires last year and mailed every household a check, it'd be $8,700 each.

The thing is most billionaires don't actually pay taxes anymore. What the GOP bill is really doing is selling off public lands and cutting Medicare to pay off oligarchs.

One last suggestion to share in this message. All of us need to do our best to encourage civil and responsible discourse in public policy and personal interactions. We have had enough of both real & performative hate mongering from folks across the political spectrum. Do better, Mr. Vice President.

We do know trans people, particularly youth, face some unique (and at times substantial) challenges in society. Given the historical/social biases and the state of flux in medical knowledge, I suggest we leave those decisions in the hands of the young people, their families, and their physicians.

As for your question about the availabilty of medical care for trans youth, I think it is important to acknowledge the health of trans folks has received scant attention in the past so we are dealing with the emerging studies and evolving understanding.

Only Alito and Thomas say Bostock never applies to Equal Protection. They do not have a majority. Skremetti does not automatically reverse federal cases applying Bostock to new contexts like restrooms, sports, or identification documents. Nor does it apply to adults. 6/x
