Barely an hour ago, Palestinian journalist Anas Al-Sharif warned us all:

โ€œIf this madness doesnโ€™t end, Gaza will be reduced to ruins, its peopleโ€™s voices silenced, their faces erased โ€” and history will remember you as silent witnesses to a genocide you chose not to stop.โ€

Israel just killed him.

True: @zohranmamdani lives in 1 unit of rent-stabilized housing.

Also true: Andrew Cuomo oversaw the loss of 96,064 units of rent-stabilized housing. And killed NYCโ€™s program helping people move out of shelter.

Leaders must show moral clarity. Andrew, time to move out. ๐Ÿงต

Science fiction hypothesized that AI would become so advanced that it would determine it needed to destroy humanity in order to fix it but what we got was an algorithm that tells you you're the Christ if you ask it five or more questions and that in turns gives the user schizophrenia

Canada's Israel lobby is cracking up over Palestinian statehood recognition At an Aug. 6 webinar, pro-Israel advocates blamed PM Mark Carney's decision to recognize Palestinian statehood for the antisemitic vandalism of Victoria's oldest synagogue.

NEW: I attended a webinar from ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆโ€™s leading pro-๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ group on ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ statehood recognition. They know theyโ€™re losing.

SAN FRANCISCO - Today, Governor Gavin Newsom announced California has signed
agreements with four of the largest technology companies in the GenAl sector, as the state continues to speed forward as the global leader in technology. Working with Google, Adobe, IBM, and Microsoft, the state will help train California's workforce for a wide range of jobs in Al, including preparing students in grades 9-12, community colleges and California State Universities for high-paying careers in these fields. These agreements โ€” reached at no cost to the state โ€” will also allow schools and industry partners to work together to make it easier for students to develop the skills they need to move from the classroom to the workforce.

Adobe Initiative: Adobe and California are partnering to equip students and teachers with the skills and resources they need to thrive in an Al-driven world. Building on Adobe's longstanding commitment to supporting education, this initiative will expand access to Adobe's responsibly developed generative Al that is designed to be used in classrooms such as Adobe Express, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe Firefly - as well as Al literacy content, programming and resources. This partnership will help ensure workforce readiness for the future by preparing students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders.

Google Initiative: Google Will help Calitornia residents develop tech skills through its extensive online Al training programs and continue to partner with government agencies across the state to transform citizen services, make data-driven decisions, and enhance efficiencies using GenAl. As a partner in this initiative, Google will support the state's commitment to modernizing government and investing in its workforce. This includes increasing access to Google's Prompting Essentials course for students at no cost.
Designed and taught by experts at Google, the online course is product agnostic, does not require a degree or experience, and teaches learners how to effectively instruct Al, make the technology work for them, and responsible use. Additionally, Google will offer its no-cost Generative Al for Educators course to teachers across the state to help them personalize instruction to meet student needs, develop creative lessons and activities, and save time on administrative tasks. This partnership builds on collaboration between California and Google to accelerate the adoption of GenAl at government agencies in the state and create new upskilling opportunities for the workforce.

IBM Initiative: This initiative aims to integrate
Al into career education programs across California's community colleges, explore opportunities for faculty training, and broaden access to industry-recognized credentials through IBM SkillsBuild. The initiative also seeks to promote the development of regional Al labs, short-term certificates, and hands-on learning experiences aligned with evolving workforce needs. By aligning proven, accessible educational pathways with the demands of a rapidly changing technological landscape, this collaboration aspires to help prepare students for future roles in Al, cybersecurity, and data science fields.

Today Governor Newsom sold out California to billion dollar tech companies to ensure Californians canโ€™t think critically or creatively in school.

Warner Bros. has said The Hunt for Gollum is in fact the first of two new Lord of the Rings feature films from Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens based on J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, as the company aims to make more of the franchise. With The Hunt for Gollum, weโ€™ll get to see what Gollum was up to in the years between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

I think Democrats should offer voters a broadly defined anti-fraud platform. Yes, obviously, start with Trumpโ€™s influence peddling, but donโ€™t stop there. Online fraud is massive, almost every phone call you get is a scam, and the solution has to be federal or it just wonโ€™t work.

As end-of-empire scenarios go it is so much more dignified to get your capital city sacked by the Visigoths than to have a bunch of illiterate rich people in their 70s doing it through a series of incomprehensible tantrums because their brains were defeated by their phones.

@chidiao
I was a fan of bill when I was an edgy teen and I sent him fanmail on myspace (yes I'm old now) when I was 17 and he responded and flirted with me and let me go back stage after one of his shows to smoke weed. There were like five other youngish girls also backstage and the whole thing skeeved me out so much I stopped watching his show. Still surprises me that he never got me too'd since his creepy old man behavior I later learned was quite well known. He didn't do anything to me let me clear about that but like. Kinda hard to believe he never has tho

ICE Raids Broke Los Angelesโ€™ Economy. Shouldnโ€™t ICE Pay for That? The economic impact of the immigration crackdown is quantifiable, and could be written down and sent to Washington as a demand for payment.

The economy in Los Angeles and California is depressed. 3.1% of the state's workforce stayed home in June. ICE raids are the clear culprit; some businesses say it's worse than COVID.
Isn't ICE responsible for that? And shouldn't they pay for the damage? A provocation from me:
