My political science opinion is that political left coalition has imploded into antagonistic factions and that colors how many people on the political left view the political right.

I'm perplexed at why preserving the VRA is not a focus of more, or any tbh, activism by a lot of different movements.

It's always been surprising to me that preserving the Voting Rights Act is not a constant point of advocacy for liberals, progressives, and the left. Perhaps they consider it to be a cultural issue that they have to moderate on? The silence on this is truly baffling.

The Southerner in me sees this as a flex and respects it.

A question that rose in my mind after reading this engaging retrospective on wokeness as a social movement, which was once so powerful that it got Biden elected in 2020, is how does African American culture view the global sociopolitical life of a philosophy it invented to survive Jim Crow sadism?

I think more people should look at the historical and contemporary discourse around masculinity in African American culture for frameworks of how to have these conversations.

Real talk -

Critical theory only works if it is grounded in moral and ethical considerations. Without it, critical theory goes intellectually sideways with a penchant for justifying cruelty quickly..

Real talk - sometimes, you have to go into the intellectual archives to find insight and solutions for current social problems.
