"I'm not surprised the personal attacks have started. They've got loads of lines: about my teeth, about my history as an actor, about my name change... the right just don't actually have a line of attack against me that's political"

Green party reaches 100,000 members for first time after Polanski becomes leader Green party in England and Wales has had near-50% rise in membership since since Zack Polanski took over last month

"while Labour talks about change, people can see in their weekly shop, their utility bills and crumbling services, Labour are offering more of the same."

Zack Polanski tells it like it is. Under Starmer, Labour is nothing but lie after lie after lie. #StarmerOut

This separate fleet buyers' brochure perhaps best explains the Ambassador's true role: holding the fort. It gave newly-renamed Austin Rover a stopgap large hatchback to try and compete with the new fwd Vauxhall Cavalier and the coming Ford Sierra in the vital UK company car market.

Top of the range was the Vanden Plas, with extra luxury touches (though oddly the new dash lacked a rev counter and the usual walnut trim). BL clearly was unsure of the Ambassador's appeal, as the range missed out on the company's export drive, apart from a low-key appearance in Ireland.

Of all the models created during the Michael Edwardes 'turnaround' era at British Leyland, probably the least well-received in terms of sales was the Austin Ambassador. A revamped Princess - finally gaining a hatchback - its L, HL and HLS models are shown in this 1982 brochure. #weirdcarbs

Never forget that Piers Morgan is a fucking tosser, and denying him the oxygen of publicity is the first step to ridding our public spaces of his vile presence.

Have you noticed?
Whenever the issue of rejoining either the Single Market, the Customs Union or the whole EU is mentioned, a number of supposedly "pro-EU" accounts immediately jump in as the first answers to tell people why it wouldn't be possible. They are never constructive, always destructive.

According to media reports, Labour are about to engage on a mad attempt to blame future tax rises on "Farage's Brexit" having caused more damage than expected.

Several gaping flaws:
- "Make Brexit Work"
- Constant Brexit red lines reinforcement
- 14 years of the TORIES in power
- Flatters Reform

I don't care about the result. That was an excellent defensive performance for 90 minutes, and a truly brilliant game by Kelleher. Good teams will do that to you, but there's no shame in it. Now the question is whether Ireland can build on it in some way.

I'm going to vote Connolly.

My point is more that all sides - left included - should always aim to run their best people.

Ive no idea what FF/FG are thinking

12.10.2025 09:57 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

God I feel bad for thinking this.

But I feel that FF/FG will want to win future elections by having people lose faith in voting in elections.

So their vote turns out but people on the left don't.

Personally I never want to vote FF/FG and hate the right.

Do FF/FG want me to stay at home

i get deeply embarrassed when propaganda trips me, and very very annoyed when i catch it -- it's terrible for my health

i'd call it propaganda: we're way past the โ€œ1st time is an accident, 2nd coincidence, 3rd is enemy actionโ€ pipeline: we have actual enemies taking purposeful action against us

If Red C or any of those other polling companies happened to ring my number and ask what I thought was the most serious issue facing Ireland at the moment, my reply would be: disinformation. It underlies everything.

Have just seen a post on X featuring a screenshot of a house share offer in Kerry, digitally altered to say โ€œNo Irishโ€. The actual ad can be found online easily and of course says no such thing, but the target audience hasnโ€™t checked and is reacting predictably.

This will only get worse.

Greens growing. Reform ratttled.

PS - I changed my name back to my family's original Jewish name because I'm proud of being Jewish. If Tice think that makes me a weirdo, I think that makes him an antisemite.

How much does an attic conversion cost โ€“ and how much value will it add to the market price of your property? For anyone who has ever looked up at the ceiling and longed for more space, the attic conversion offers a seductive solution.

Attic conversions promise space but also surprises. Costs have jumped up to 30% in recent years, and regulations can make or break your project.
Still, when done right, they can add serious market value.

Statement from the Council of The Bar of Ireland: The fundamental importance of an independent referral Bar

It is the duty of barristers to be independent and free from any influence, especially such as may arise from their personal interests or external pressure, in the discharge of their professional duties as barristers.

Barristers cannot discriminate in favour of or against any person availing, or seeking to avail, of the services of the barrister on the grounds of race, colour, sex, sexual orientation, language, politics, religion, nationality, national or social origin, national minority, birth or other status.

It is also the duty of barristers to accept instructions in any case in their area of practice. As a result, barristers should not be identified with their clients or their clientsโ€™ causes or suffer adverse consequences as a result of being so identified. This fundamental principle arises from the Code of Conduct of The Bar of Ireland and is recognised in the United Nations Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers and in the Council of Europe Convention for the Protection of the Profession of Lawyer.

The duty of barristers to accept instructions, sometimes referred to as the โ€œcab-rank ruleโ€, ensures that everyone is entitled to access to justice and is central to trust in the Irish legal system and the rule of law.

Crazy that the Bar Council had to explain the "cab rank rule" in the context of Connolly. But the no discrimination part is also a strong message to those demonising immigration barristers.

We live in a country where Cork hurlers get criticised for "lack of leadership" in 2nd half of an All Ireland.

But yet the Taoiseach is unable to show leadership on climate action.

Sadly, I think that "will be" is no longer future tense: it seems to me that serious division has already arrived, and is being actively stoked by those polluting industries. Political power (in IE) is variously either captured or sticking its collective head in the sand...

10.10.2025 15:44 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 10    ๐Ÿ” 4    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Grand rhetoric isn't enough and making targets isn't enough. Climate leadership requires being willing to challenge the power of polluting industries. That doesn't have to be divisive, but certainly will be as the government still drags its feet.
