i saw an immature painted (have a few pics) but mostly it just looks scruffy and funny! i would love to see a fully colored one too. maybe someday another trip to Galveston..

we don't have them around me - we have scrub jays and steller jays that are beautiful - but this bird was over-the-top blue. had to travel to Galveston to see it -

an indigo bunting is a smallish blue bird - this one stopped to sit on a branch as it was traveling through Galveston, Texas on migration(I think) - the blue is so intense - i tried decreasing saturation a bit, but this is how it came out of the camera. OM and Olympus cameras tend to overdo the blues though -

that said - i bet the latest models canons, sonys and nikons may match them. but the olympus lenses are (at least when i bought them) much lighter. i think i get acceptable pics with this setup and my budget just wont cover changing all my gear...

i loved my Canon(s) but i have to admit the olympus and om bodies give me even more stabilization. i hand hold most everything - these less popular bodies let me quickly catch handheld sharp pics down to like 1/20 sec - and with me paying attention and bracing even longer shutter times.
