October is the least warmed month and reached +1.55°C during a La Niña!

The past 29 months were +1.57°C on average, 0.32°C above the same 2015-2017 period, indicating a 0.4°C/dec warming rate.

That's more than a doubling from the 1970-2010 warming rate.
Even(?) we might have underestimated this.

The 3-year mean rate of atmospheric CO2 growth just hit a new record high reaching a growth rate of 7.88 ppm per 3 years for October, 2025. This breaks the previous record high of 7.83 ppm per 3 years, from February, 2019.

Net-Zero by 2050? The Climate 8-ball is bored.

👻BOO‼️
I can't think of anything scarier than this.

The greenhouse gases we have added to the atmosphere now force over a billion Hiroshima bombs worth of heat into the Earth system every year.

Will there be a record low maximum in a few months? The Climate 8-ball quoted Horace, "Great effort is required to arrest decay."

October 25th, 2025 was the hottest on record for the date since records began in 1940, making it likely the hottest October 25th in the last 120,000 years.

More records are forecast to be set over the next week. Stay tuned.

For those who wonder, during the past 3 years of global temperature averaging +1.5°C, the average Oceanic Niño 3.4 Index (RONI) was -0.19.

Which means that the tropical Pacific caused some relative global cooling during this period.

October 2025 is about 1.6°C above pre-industrial

The currently predicted October 25th global anomaly is 1.28°C (1981-2010 baseline). The "delta" between the 1981-2010 baseline and the 1850-1900 baseline for October 25th is 0.62°C.

Adding, we get 1.28°C + 0.62°C = 1.90°C above the pre-industrial baseline.

Now the confirmation came in that highly toxic Psuedo nitzschia species are distributed from pole to pole (1).

They produce the neurotoxin domoic acid a highly potent neurotoxin which is highly persistent in the water column

The danger is that we get a neurotoxic hydrological cycle as these toxins are mixed into the air. For example in one event frogs could have been killed by neurotoxic rain on an Island in the Gulf of Mexico

Its an important precondition that we get a neurotoxic ocean with toxic species spreading also across the open oceans.

When nutrient deposition events of dust and wildfire soot will increase with marine heatwaves leading to food webs that retain nutrients and particular matter in the upper water column such a development could fuel toxic blooms of Pseudo nitschia across the global oceans (1).

Conclusions

Our findings confirm that temperature is a key driver of domoic acid (DA) contamination and support the notion that toxin-producing Pseudo-nitzschia species are nearly ubiquitous across global ocean basins. Thus, virtually the entire ocean is potentially at risk if climate change promotes increases in Pseudo-nitzschia growth and toxicity. Global models warn that increasingly prolific and toxic bloom events must be expected under a continuously warming ocean.

The fact that in our lifetimes, global temperatures could reach higher than ever over the past 3,000,000 years is hard to comprehend.

The last glacial maximum, when sea levels were 134 m lower than today, was only 23,000 years ago.
