NC Senate will return July 29th for veto override votes, GOP Senate leader Phil Berger announces. Measures would then go to House, where they'd need at least one Dem to cross party lines or two Dems to be absent when a vote is called, assuming all Republicans are present. #ncpol

Democrats in South Carolina are barely pretending they're not already running for president A whole lot of 2028 Democratic hopefuls seem to be visiting the state.

I’m biased, but I think NC would make a good first primary state. It’s actually competitive in elections and offers a diverse primary electorate that has every section of the Democratic coalition.

NC Democrats appear to be very serious in winning this state the first primary in the nation.

But, our primaries are state-run, and Dems would need cooperation from the GOP legislature. #ncpol

The district has not elected a Republican since 1882, but it gave Trump 51% of the vote last year. Davis held on by less than two points.

NC-01 is still majority-minority (48% White, 39% Black, 8% Hispanic) but is more likely to elect a Republican than ever. Will it flip?

NC-01 is the only competitive congressional district in our state. It is composed of the NE corner of the state with a portion stretching down to Goldsboro and Kinston. New district lines and changing demographics have made it more competitive than ever...

Roberson, the mayor of Rocky Mount, announced his campaign April 23. He ran for this seat in 2022 and put a decent chunk of his own money in that time.

Davis, first elected in 2022, is not officially in the race yet. He is apparently interested in running for US Senate.

Jefferson Griffin’s Gambit For a State Supreme Court Seat Last year, a state board said overseas voters didn’t need to provide photo ID. Now he's want ballots from Democratic counties tossed.

Want to understand how and why Jefferson Griffin, a Republican Court of Appeals judge in North Carolina, is trying to invalidate 60,000 ballots cast in the 2024 election?

This explainer on @theassemblync.bsky.social is both thorough and clear:

Obviously Brockman has an argument to be made in saying that he can help the GOP override any veto he wants. But, there MUST be something crazy happening behind closed doors to warrant rhetoric like this coming out in an official statement.
