Huh, apparently Demon's Souls once upon a time had a "soul reduction penalty" for phantoms (good and bad) that failed their mission.

FromSoftware shared a series of images showing Stormveil Castle at various stages of development in a magazine, CGWorld issue 286, and when I look at it, I feel like I can understand why Dark Souls II is the way that it is. There are areas kind of at or around each of these stages of polish.
