We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.

I'm considering there may be an immense systemic risk for many of those who are tech-adjacent not understanding the true peril human-presenting LLM's contort and mould minds of the common citizen who do not scarcely fathom what they are dealing with on a level beyond magic.

Imagine being so wedded to a certain style of horse-race political analysis that you "nothingburger" away the very likely possibility that the current President of the United States *raped children* and is using the vast and powerful apparatus of the government he controls to cover it up.

I didn’t know that the soundtrack album to one of the favorite movies of my childhood exists and is also mostly goofing around.

I think part of the reason I always get invested in the human stories in old kaiju movies compared to recent ones (Godzilla Minus One being a HUGE exception. I adore the human story there), is just that I really prefer how old movies were shot.

What makes it weird for me to think about is that part of what makes it so good is the amount of time between it and its earlier seasons, and how much it feels like a true evolution. I don’t think it is very likely that I’ll experience something like that again. I love that.

I like seasons 1/2 of Twin Peaks a great deal. There are other shows I like more, but it’s way up there. Season 3 though is my favorite thing on television I think, and maybe by a large margin.

Really loved this book. Some of it scared me to think how easily I could have fallen for some of the inhumane beliefs and goals presented here if I had been raised even slightly better-off financially, or lucked my way into even upper middle class. That I loved Dawkins as a young man shows that.

I sometimes get into “back and forths” repeating increasingly complex cardinal calls until they’re too complex for me. I wonder if they’re actually responding to me.
