If you do a redirect, you can put the data it on GitHub in case the domain ever goes offline.

Of course, Internet Archive could also back up the domain.

Also, letโ€™s be real, youโ€™re keeping that domain indefinitely, this is the kind of thing you do.

I think you can make it work if AI revenue is on the order of $1000 per white collar worker per year (probably even less).

Thatโ€™s actually a fantastic goal (> $100 billion revenue). Itโ€™s beyond what I anticipate happening soon, but it also falls short of โ€œweโ€™ve eliminated 10% of the workforce.โ€

I think youโ€™ve mixed up ADTs and ADTs.

I knew a dev working on a product where end users could see stack traces. He specifically rewrote null pointer exceptions, because his users were somewhat technical, but not programmers. They would see โ€œnull pointer exceptionโ€ and try to guess what data was missing in lieu of a bug report.

Question: Iโ€™ve always thought I read โ€œHigh Holy Days.โ€

Is that a real phrase, is โ€œHigh Holidaysโ€ an alternative, or is that just autocorrect doing its thing?

@tightheadpop.bsky.social If I go a week without saying โ€œthe NSA invented Agileโ€ at work, I deserve a medal.

Agreed. @aaronrosspowell.com Probably didnโ€™t think about whether his tweet had a โ€œtopic sentenceโ€. Yet it led with its thesis, because he intuitively understands how to write in a way that most high school students donโ€™t.

Ok, but what does this do for calculating how many lifehacks youโ€™re going to share?

In all seriousness, itโ€™s pretty clear what happened here. In someoneโ€™s head they defined 2010s liberalism = woke = censorship, and now that right wing censorship is in the news, it feels right to them to mock it as โ€œwoke.โ€

โ€œโ€œHard deadlinesโ โ€”often externally-imposedโ โ€”requiring work even if something else is nominally โ€œmore important.โ€ (e.g. zero-day security patch is not on our list of prioritized strategic work, but must be scheduled immediately.โ€

Cost of delay is higher for the security patch. So is priority.

I think my reaction to a lot of the examples in this post is โ€œthis isnโ€™t compelling if you rank in terms of cost of delay.โ€

There are hard bugs, but the fact that itโ€™s possible to see this screen indicates a sort of trivially dumb failure mode.

I saw someone citing a well known philosophy paper to make a point about AI, and I sometimes wish there were disclaimers about which bits of philosophy were real, and which are strike dummies for training undergrads.

Iโ€™m have nearly zero belief that โ€œAIs sufferโ€ and think itโ€™s currently a pretty silly worry, but I think thereโ€™s a lot of overlap where people who worry about it are vegans or otherwise very invested in animal welfare.

One my lifeโ€™s tiniest regrets is that I never wrote up my review of Kingsman: The Golden Circle, based on the screen of the guy one row ahead of me.

Itโ€™s hard to believe that any dialogue couldโ€™ve made it make sense.

Itโ€™s not what Trump meant, but I half assume there are legitimate Islamic organizations that have been refused banking on suspicion of being tied to terrorism.

Not a cryptographer, but I suspect that in this context "there exists an algorithm" does not mean "we have an algorithm".

This is in the same way that in P!=NP, the claim is not "we haven't found an algorithm" but "it's impossible to find an algorithm, no matter how much you search".

18.07.2025 09:45 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Not literally a contradiction, but the implied claim of utility/convenience is undermined by the noisy AI overview in your way. You can no longer instantly see that you have recommendations.

A nice example that a statement can be paradoxically self-defeating not merely because of the content, but because of the context in which it is uttered.

And I think the biggest question for a lot of them people is โ€œdoes Trump run the Republican Party or is he just temporarily President.โ€

If itโ€™s the former, they canโ€™t defy him and stay in office. If itโ€™s the latter, they care more about approval ratings and tactics.

I think thatโ€™s roughly it. Congress gets spooked, his nominees no longer see an upside in pushing hard for what he wants, he can no longer bulldoze federal agencies, etc.
