Hello to new folks! An introduction to me and my work: I am a Tejana writer and poet who writes mostly speculative dar fiction, including folklore reimaginings, horror (body horror and transformation stories especially).

Stop Cop City gave us a lot of tactics on how to get in the way of fascist infrastructure being built. Those tactics need to be utilized and expanded in the way that ICE Watch has used and greatly developed the tactics of Cop Watch.

When you see unhoused people asking for money what you should see is a fracturing of the social contract where an issue (housing) that should be addressed on a municipal or statuary level is instead foisted on individuals in a way designed o put callouses on their souls

I was interested in seeing the film after my Dracula re-read, then found out who directed it. Nope!

Just finished reading Scratch Moss by @davidmbarnett.bsky.social and boy, I'm gonna be thinking about this one for a while. There is a depth (🙃) to this folkhorror novel that you can really appreciate by the end. Now I need to go back and read Scuttler's Cove!

Completely agree, I think about this all the time working with children. Folks aren't interrogating enough how teaching generations of children that uncritical compliance to authority leads directly to their oppression. I wonder too if this is why "what are you gonna do?" is a constant refrain.
