this is not even a situation where his story is “i had deplorable politics and work hard to make amends.” this is just a guy! one to whom it did not occur that people would take issue with his awful tattoo! you’re not even willing to shrink the candidate tent for bad judgement??

there are many issues — his background, the tattoos, that his answer to why he kept them can’t even be “to remind me of being a huge fuck up, which motivates all this work i do to help others” — and now some dems just want to give his poor judgment a pass because omg white working class

Nothing warms my heart as much as seeing someone doing this. The world is *full* of people doubling down on shit they don’t even believe out of a sense of pride, and seeing someone graciously acknowledge being wrong, in full public view, is quite inspiring.
