And while I don’t use math per se in my day job, the problem solving x + y = z makes so much more sense now and i do wonder about taking a late in life math course to find some enjoyment in something i think after all i’d really have fun with. in a brain hurting kind of way. like language!

And i ended up in software product management and i love it - because of the problem break down and solution rebuild elements of my job - and see that maybe - just maybe while i landed in the right place for me, it wasn’t because i was bad at math. despite all 9th grade angst to the contrary

This hits because i was another “math is hard” 80s barbie. I got lucky - because I found languages in high school, stumbled into linguistics (which at my university we called math for girls because the small program was 99.9% women students).

I want to give you something for the work - so thank you for this option. I am buying enough to pass out to friends and family in small town NY. thank you!

It’s so funny which classes I remember - and how my brain intersperses it with watching the Sisi movies on VHS in a closet in the German dept, all night sessions on linguistics papers with my partner in crime Jen, cheating on a logic test because my brain could not.
