EREVs are the best way to get more people into EVs because they don’t have EV limitations.
For a given amount of resource intensive batteries you can build significantly more EREVs than pure EVs

EREVs can use smaller batteries, they are a more efficient use of battery
they generators are small with low hours, the maintenance is minimal and in exchange you get extended range
and for anything that might be used for towing or hauling there are a ton of advantages
if the combustion engine cam drive the wheels that’s not an EREV

EREV makes so much more sense than EV for trucks - particularly for towing or hauling.
If I had the space and budget for a third vehicle it would be a small electric sedan to daily, but like most americans I only have 1 vehicle so it has to work both for daily driving and also big trips
my camping trips usually involve driving 1-2,000 miles, usually exploring small town Appalachia
most people aren’t interested in using special websites to plan their trips, they don’t want to drive around and find chargimg stations that are actually working, unoccupied, and fast enough
so i drive all day, set uo camp, then use solar panels to charge my truck overnight. lol, got it. 🤡

but the bigger thing to most americans is being able to go on a long road trip without having to stop and find charging eve y few hours, so if you want to encourage EV usage then EREV’s are the best way to do that
it’s less battery per vehicle (i.e. fewer valuable resources for vehicles, able to make more electric vehicles) and can be used on road trips and are great for people without a lot of charging infrastructure
