Any comments on the unfathomable complicity of the Guardian. They give him centre stage at every turn.

"We support all courageous and loving people who stand and fight for justice and the continuation of life on Earth. We will do everything we can to support them, and to play our part in building a new world where life is sacred." Proud to have signed: www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Maybe the "still a lot to do" framing is fundamentally flawed when we are in effect moving backwards?

Bill Gates is worse. He even admitted that before writing his climate book he had no clue about the subject. But his book sold well, because people adore money and power (but not wisdom).

I had discussed Nordhaus extensively with Ketcham a little over two years ago. Great to see he's got it out now. It's a little polemical at places, as said, but we all really need to chew this over - it is like there are two IPCC reports, one for the decision makers using IAMs, and the rest for us.

An extremely important article, written by a freelancer, that explains why there is such a huge disconnect between climate rhetoric and action. Because policy makers listen to neo-classical economists but never tell you. theintercept.com/2023/10/29/w... (At times a little polemical.)

Thanks Paul, I need some followers here, as a newbe on this platform.

The problem with those calculations is that they assume that we will reach net zero some time this century. So far, I can only call that science fiction.

He's had a long interview at the annual American Geophysical Union conference in San Francisco quite a few years back. Since then he thinks he's a climate scientist.

He seems to be thinking of electric tractors and combine harvesters, and refrigerated trucks and ships transporting beef and pork around the globe.

Some are saying bsky is an echo chamber. It probably is, but I have a mission here: climate activism needs to move on from looking at denial and not enough action, on to the big cheat of the corporate, government and scientific elite capture. The big trap where "net zero" is only a part.

I can't stress this enough - colonialism and the climate crisis are one and the same. We should be much more concerned about the solutions now being sold than about "not enough is being done". braveneweurope.com/wolfgang-kno...
