For some Boston-area parents, minivans are out. E-bikes are in. - The Boston Globe With a boost from e-bikes, these parents are "car-light," or even car-free β€” and loving it.

β€œThe reality is that every person who has an e-bike becomes an e-bike evangelist because you can’t ride an e-bike around and not realize this is the best way to get around Boston.” www.bostonglobe.com/2025/08/13/m...

β€œBurlingame police say a 19-year-old woman driving a white car was in a parking lot across the street when the car was hit by an e-bike. Police say the vehicle then accelerated forward across Donnelly Avenue into the restaurant, hitting the two children who were on the sidewalk.”

Hooooow?

You can’t tell me at this point that these local stations don’t have marching orders from ownership to propagandize people back into cars now that e-bikes are becoming popular. Nothing else can explain such a tortured headline.

Apparently if no one else if following the law, you don't have to either and in fact, you become the bad guy if you do.

With the impending removal of the de minimis exemption, I created a starter pack and list for Canadian creators who sell online. If you're a buyer looking for fellow Canadians to shop from, check it out. If you'd like to be added, let me know!

Hey @cityofvancouver.bsky.social would it be possible me to move the fences over a little bit so these bike racks outside Science World are accessible? This location gets a lot of cargo bikes, and the other rack fills up quickly. @lucymaloney.bsky.social @petermeiszner.bsky.social

We’re also seeing what hundreds of millions dollars in active infrastructure does when it’s concentrated in one part of the city.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…

The cost per person per hour of TTRPGs is essentially undefeated in entertainment hobbies. A single purchase unlocks limitless hours of play for a group of people.

It's just funny that it happened the second time.

So, do you have an opposition to new drivers from going over 40km/h?

It's not skill that's the issue.

Uh, my entry level rad power bike could do this with mechanical disc brakes.

Do some maintenance on your bike and you'd be amazed how well everything works.

My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

(15 in Manhattan btw)

We’ll nitpick the motor assist classification on a 35 kg e-bike like it’s a moral crisis, yet 4-ton trucks roam our cities without anyone batting an eye.

Sea to River from Moscrop to Lougheed is actually a pretty good route in the context of routes outside of the core.

09.08.2025 01:29 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Oh agreed. There’s been virtually no evidence that the city has done any more than put up signs on these routes and called it good enough.

45th is such an offender for this too- literally no mode filters between boundary and Nanaimo. And it’s almost encouraged to be a rat run because of all the four way stops. I shouldn’t have literally 20 cars passing me at Kerr and 45th .
