Q: how does chromatin move?

Using MINFLUX, SPT & SRLCI, we track chromatin dynamics across 7 orders of magnitude in time to provide answers www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

So I've gotten some secondary confirmation of this, sorta, though it's possible it'sβ€”this will shock you, surelyβ€”a bit chaotic in its implementation.

I'm also hearing that at least in some sub-institutes, phones and laptops are having location services turned on remotely where before they were off.

I am a biologist. This policy is based on disinformation and is also extremely harmful to many of our community members.

Here is your biological truth: there is no single and universal set of criteria that delineates or defines "distinct" sexes. We are a beautifully variable species!

Brief thread on our opinion article "Q-rich activation domains: flexible β€˜rulers’ for transcription start site selection?". Transcription people are surely aware of the important reports on the DNA sequence determinants of start site (TSS) selection in the human genome that came out this year. 1/15

ZNF143 is a transcriptional regulator of nuclear-encoded mitochondrial genes that acts independently of looping and CTCF ZNF143 has been implicated in gene activation and chromatin looping. Magnitov etΒ al. show that ZNF143 has no general looping factor activity and explain why this function has been misattributed. Instead, ZNF143 regulates transcription of nuclear-encoded mitochondrial genes, ensuring energy homeostasis, proliferation, and differentiation potential of stem cells.

Please check out our new paper showing that the supposed looping factor ZNF143 has no role in chromatin looping: www.cell.com/molecular-ce...

And also check out the companion paper from @andersshansen.bsky.social: www.cell.com/molecular-ce...

Excited to share @domenicnarducci.bsky.social 's paper now out in Mol Cell published back-to-back with the paper from @dewitlab.bsky.social‬ - despite lots of prior work, we find that ZNF143 has no looping function

Our study published today on #bioRxiv describe the identification of a deaminase that converts 5mC to T, enabling direct sequencing of the human methylome and genome. This achievement was made possible through a collaborative effort across all departments at #NEB.

How did we get here, with a prominent anti-vaxxer nominated to lead Health and Human Services, with its $1.7T budget?

Much of it can be traced to this retracted 1998 paper, falsely linking the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine to autism. 1/3
