I argue that Black and queer women are typically framed as saviors and superheroes protecting white women and Black men despite their lack of self-protection. The book is available for pre-order! I have a discount code for students, scholars, and folks looking to teach the text.

I contributed a chapter titled "'They Wanna Be Saved': Black and Queer Women as Saviors and Superheroes in Higher Learning." I draw comparisons between the movie and my own interviews with young Black college women.

To commemorate the 30-year anniversary of John Singleton's critical film "Higher Learning," Drs. Tyson King-Meadows and Shahara'Tova Dente brought together a collection of scholars to write chapters for the book called "From Higher Learning to Charlottesville."

Pam Bondi won't even look at Epstein's survivors. I'm starting to wonder if she has a soul in there.

Pam Bondi has no idea what attorney-client privilege means. She just said the Epstein files are privileged. A few watches of Law & Order SVU would clear up that confusion.

These people are inhumane.

Pam Bondi is a literal representation of carceral white feminism, a feminism rooted in "girl power" and "leaning in" to gain access to the boys' clubs and perpetuate harm against other women.

It's not about "enforcing immigration laws." They don't actually care. Every immigrant could follow every rule, no matter how arcane, and they'd still want them gone.

They just hate everyone who isn't cis and white and straight and we all desperately need to stop pretending otherwise.

We aren't talking enough about the austerity-style measures being used by academic administrators to justify cutting cultural programs, language departments, and affinity groups in higher education.

Why aren't we being louder about this?

I think my larger point was that we were having the conversation. I wasn't saying that the show stopped the issue. That doesn't make sense.

I'm aware.

I'm sure that's completely valid. I also think multiple things are true.

I think a lot about how so many atrocities and indignities will remain hidden from public sight due to the dismantling of news media. I know that's the point but it truly disturbs my spirit.

Ped*philes and r*pists are two of the most protected groups in the US because so many powerful men are also ped*philes and r*pists.

We didn't take "To Catch A Predator" seriously enough. Dateline NBC was doing incredible investigative journalism work identifying, catching, and humiliating (mostly) middle-aged white men for preying on children via social media.

The Epstein Files do not exist in isolation.

We can't reform our way out of this.
